The New Orleans Police Department is investigating the stabbing death Ryan Lekosky, 23 from Metairie.
The stabbing occurred just after 3:30 Sunday morning at the intersection of Dauphine and Iberville Streets.
According to investigators, Lekosky and his wife were walking near the intersection of Dauphine and Iberville Streets, when an unknown male, drove along side of the couple and began yelling inappropriate comments at the Lekosky’s wife.
A verbal argument took place between the suspect and Lekosky’s wife; and, while Lekosky was trying to break up the argument, the suspect stabbed him multiple times. The suspect then got back into his vehicle and fled on Dauphine towards Canal Street.
When Eighth District officers arrived at the scene, they found Lekosky stabbed multiple times and Emergency Medical Technicians rushed him to the hospital where he died a short while later.
NOPD is now looking for an African-American male about 35-years-old, 5’7” in height, and weighing about 165 to 170 pounds. The suspect has a bald head, short beard, and was last seen wearing a light colored long sleeved shirt, blue jeans, and alligator boots. The suspect’s vehicle is a dark colored SUV, possibly an older model, with a broken passenger rearview mirror.

Bottom line- DO NOT COME TO NEW ORLEANS. You are MEAT, statistically your life is unimportant. We need an ANTI-tourism sign campaign for N.O.

The French Quarter is THE MAJOR TOURIST ATTRACTION and HISTORIC NEIGHBORHOOD in this city.
It is EASILY defensible as such. Walled off, contained and protected as any valuable tourist attraction it would be simple to end all outside predators patrolling for victims. Issue ID’s to all who live there, have legitimate business there and reason to be there at all hours. Then have events issue permits to those who are paying to be there- especially after dark. Four, strictly controlled entrances at the perimeter with no access elsewhere and you have NO ONE in the Quarter who is looking for a hit-and-run victim. Crime within, among residents and visitors, can then be effectively stopped by armed private patrols.
THAT is how you protect the most valuable area of the city. Ordinance, construction of barriers, new attitude- all do-able within a month! Will it happen? Noooo......
Why? Because of HOW IT WOULD LOOK. It would send a ‘negative’ message!( cue hysterical laughter here) Like DEAD BODIES and national press can spin murder positively??
A MARINE, a VALUABLE human being who was LURED into this advertised shooting gallery called a city, was stalked and murdered by one of the countless PREDATORS who use the Quarter like lions use a watering hole in the Serengeti- to prey, kill and feed !
Stop LURING people to the feeding station that is New Orleans if you can’t/won’t protect them. It’s obscene.
It is widely known and accepted that PREDATORS RULE THE STREETS , especially at night. But, as mentioned above, the statistics say one out of thousands is tolerable. Probabililty- odds- math terms to explain away risking your life to walk on a street!
If the Quarter is the shining jewel in the predator-filled hunting ground that downtown New Orleans has become it had better be protected by drastic means or those who are needed to bring $$ there WILL stop coming. No more conventions, no more nightlife, no more 24hrs of fun for tourists or daring locals. NO more people on the streets may be the only way to prevent blood on the streets.
Oh,but the predators will remain.
God Bless that poor young man and his wife. Spread the word-NOTHING in New Orleans is worth dying to see! I say that as a born and raised native who lived and worked in the Quarter and one whose ancestors FOUNDED what has become a decaying headquarters for thugs.
The Convention and Tourist Bureau and all those marketing N.O. and luring people here have blood on their hands. A Marine, in dress blues, bleeding on the streets of the Quarter while $$ are being spent to pretty up Armstrong Park and plans are debated for an Iberville shopping mecca! It’s nothing short of EVIL. Pretty places for more victims- esthetically pleasing future crime scenes!.

my guess is he ran into some ghetto riffraff off Canal street or something else...maybe he got spotted in a bar by an Obama voter...
that intersection is not much worse than any other in the Quarter...usually the closer to Rampart or the Rampart/Esplanade corner the worse
don't get me wrong, folks are killed all over the Quarter and Uptown and Marginy but there are much worse areas in the Quarter
weekend nights brings in black kids from the hood and the cops in New Orleans are now overwhelmingly black themselves and very corrupt and do nothing to stop them much...though the cops have been kind to myself and my family there our annual visits
it just sucks, because of political correctness and profiling hype we now all live around clear and present dangers that once were not tolerated...and we were all safer
hope they get them ...70 years ago they would have already been got and swinging from a bridge at Algiers Point for murdering a man in uniform.
Cops can squeeze this guy out in that environment if they get heat....Landrieu’s office or her brother the mayor is a good place to start
