Good evening!
Election Week has arrived, and with it we hope ~~real hope ~~ the beginning of a return to sanity.
So many races to follow after many days of effort.
I think that with very few exceptions we can be proud of our side and the campaigns waged on principle and ideas, and many small contributions from many different sources. It's been amazing!
That idea is lunacy and ought to be put to rest immediately.None of the three actually predicted that Republicans would gain the 40 seats that they need for a majority, but all three held out hope that that's possible. It isn't. . . .
there are no signs of a dramatic rebound for the party, and the chance of Republicans winning control of either chamber in the 2010 midterm elections is zero. Not “close to zero.” Not “slight” or “small.” Zero.
- Political analyst Stuart Rothenberg comenting on the possibility of the GOP winning back the House of Representatives - April 2009
This week's elections weren't just about the economy. Concerned about judicial tyranny, Iowans booted all three of the state Supreme Court justices who appeared on Tuesday's ballot - the first high court justices to be defeated since 1962, when Iowans created a system of voting on whether or not judges should be retained. The Hawkeye State's judicial elections rarely generate much controversy or interest, with most judges generally enjoying approval levels of around 75 percent. That changed with the high court's unanimous 2009 decision discovering a right to homosexual "marriage" in the state constitution - a view that would have shocked those who drafted the document long before homosexuality was the subject of polite conversation, let alone political debate.
Still basking in the glow I see :) Godd morning everyone!
The last flight of the shuttle is expected to begin at 1504 EDT today. This is the LAST FLIGHT OF ALL for the shuttle program.
:(
Good morning. Yum.
How was your raisin toast?
Very pretty sunrise.
Had x-rays yesterday for what I thought was sciatica pain....Well, not that. I have a pinched nerve in my lower lumbar. Doc said I was a textbook case since I was quite active in my youth, doing flying splits and all.
Starting with PT to see if that helps.
lysie, may I start the thread tomorrow??
I'm munching on it now. Yum. Next time I will add more raisins and cinnamon .
“This is one of those ICYMI posts”, she said,, as she was a bit embarassed to toot her own horn:

O signals it's full steam ahead...
GOP establishment more of a liability...

Good morning.
Great!
Excellent!
Good morning, Toby.
Good Morning! Yesterday we had to file an injunction against the County Auditor to prevent her from counting the absentee ballots that arrived without a postmark.
We brought in a laywer with election law experience, and the judge ruled in our favor. It was a huge win!
You might recall that this is the way Iowa ended up with Gay Marriage,, somebody challenged the law in Polk Co. Iowa,, the judge ruled in ‘their favor’, but his ruling effectively knocked down Iowa’s DOMA law, statewide. This ruling has the same effect,,, ALL absentee ballots that arrive in County Auditor’s offices after the election MUST have a STAMP (NOT an electronic stamp) and carry an OFFICIAL postmark.
This ruling has the potential to change the outcome of several races here in Iowa, as there were several races that were won by less than 30 votes.
