ay 18, 2010 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Republican Illinois Congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kirk said Tuesday he opposes Arizona's new immigration law, taking a stand contrary to the conservative wing of his party.

Kirk's stand comes in the wake of the flap at Highland Park High School where the girls' basketball team was stopped from attending a tournament in Arizona.

Even though Highland Park High School lies within his 10th Congressional District, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kirk held his first news conference Tuesday since the Arizona trip controversy erupted last week. Kirk believes student athletes should not be enlisted to boycott Arizona but he disagrees with that state's crackdown on illegal immigration.

Meanwhile, the self-described liberal on social issues Kirk went rogue on the conservative wing of his own Republican Party when he spoke out Tuesday against the Arizona crackdown on immigration.

"I understand the way Arizona citizens feel. But one state acting alone can't solve this problem. This is a core federal responsibility," said Kirk.

This extreme ultra liberal will never get my vote.

Labno is the man!

Who is US Senate Candidate Mike Labno

Answer: The guy who is going to get 1% of the vote and be completely forgotten until such time as he can win a primary in one of the two major party's.

Best case - your wasting your vote. Worst case - your helping Giannoulias get elected. Either way, your not doing anyone any good.

Now that's funny, being called a liberal troll by a liberal troll.

Vote for Kirk. For God’s sake, do we want a GOP majority or not? The media cannot ignore the fact that Obama’s senate seat was lost - will be a story for days and contribute to the repudiation of Obama.

If the health care fight proved anything, it was that party labels matter. McConnell held the entire GOP caucus together - a credit to his leadership. Not a single RINO voted for BOcare. Not one.

No Mike Labno is the best candidate. The time for supporting liberal Republicans is over. They don’t serve us. Didn’t work in California with Schwarzenegger, didn’t turn out so good in MA and it can be argued that Romneycare provided the foundation for Obamacare. We need to stop being played as chumps. Mike Labno is a great candidate. He isn’t a politician. He is going to be speaking at the Tea Party express rally. Winning isn’t the only thing, sometimes doing the right thing matters. Obviously you are a Republican and not a conservative.

Greybeard you are right. I don’t think Kirk is a homosexual but he is worse he is a liberal who happens to be moderate on fiscal issues and the military.

1) I am a conservative, not a libertarian.

2) Mike Labno will get around 1% of the vote and likely never be heard from again - so your basically wasting your vote. Worse, by flushing your ballot down the crapper on a 3rd party candidate who has zero chance to win, your effectively helping Giannoulias win.

3) If you aren't voting for the GOP nominee (in this case Kirk) who won the primary fair and square, no moaning and whining if moderates and RINO's refuse to rally around conservative primary winners (such as COD). The hypocrisy is astounding from some of you who cry about "establishment" Republicans who won't get behind a primary winner you like such as O'Donnell, but then you do exactly the same exact thing as they do when it's you who doesn't like the GOP primary victor.

I wholeheartedly agree (although I don’t live in Illinois) — although I’m not in the topic right now (wrote this from my posts page), and I’m outta here, so you’re on your own. ;’) ;’) ;’)

“I understand the way Arizona citizens feel. But one state acting alone can’t solve this problem. This is a core federal responsibility,” said Kirk.” And the feds are shirking a core responsibility.

An officer of the Illinois Minuteman Project told me that Rep. Kirk went to the border and gave Mexicans advice, to help them sneak into the U.S.
