35 posts to get to Sandi Patti! YES! What a wonderful voice!
Also Mahalia Jackson, Sarah Brightman, and my friend Patty.
Jackie Evancho will make that list someday, if her parents don’t allow her to blow out her voice before puberty.

I would add Emmylou Harris, and possibly Bonnie Riatt.
Grace Slick, and if Allison Krause is in the mix, then Nanci Griffith should be too.

Agreed, especially on the Ann Wilson. And she is *still* amazing.

I am sure I will get slammed, but Barbra Streisand also has a great voice. Cant stand her politics though. It's really hard to bring her up here on FR but Barbra Streisand's vocal capabilities are just about the best I've ever heard, even including opera (except for extreme high range.)
Her "instrument" is fantastic; among the best ever. Too bad her brain isn't.

Celine Dion?????????????
How about:
Jo Stafford
Dinah Washington
Ella Fitzgerald
Jane Monheit
Julie London
Heck, I'd take Alberta Hunter over Celine Dion!
