I read the second novel and didn't find it interesting. I never bothered with the third.
And I don't find Will Smith all that interesting either. I somehow don't see him as carrying off the scientist role as did Eric Braeden.

Colossus is one of my favorite movies. I can’t see Smith in the Forbin role, either. Braeden was perfect for that role. I imagine we’ll get a lot of blow it all up, major league special effects, when the original just allowed your mind to do the work.

I got a better idea.
Why don’t they adapt H. Beam Piper’s “The Cosmic Computer” (aka “Junkyard Planet”) instead?

Colossus: The Forbin Project is one of the greatest SciFi flicks of all time.

Casting Will Smith as the star in Independence Day ruined what had the potential to be a really great movie.

I agree with you two. The original film was terrific and is worth remaking - but what are they thinking getting Will Smith involved? That’s a miscast.

Amen. Will Smith and the sad sack who played the President both pulled that film down (or rather, it succeeded despite them)
You know your film is in trouble if Jeff Goldblum is the best guy on screen.
Good to see Adam Baldwin in the movie though.

Good to see Adam Baldwin in the movie though.Do you watch Chuck? Adam Baldwin's character is great. This last week, it began as a flash-back to the 90s and Baldwin's character slammed Clinton and his screeching harpy of a wife.

Casting Will Smith as the star in Independence Day ruined what had the potential to be a really great movie.I didn't see it for Smith. It was a good, fun movie. To me, the whole cast brought it together and Smith's role could have been played by just about anyone.

They shouldn’t remake this film. It was dark and depressing. There is no ‘happy ending’. I don’t want to see films like that anymore. Good guys win, bad guys lose. Otherwise, forget it.

Bean counters. Smith’s movies average over $130 million in box office.

What’s next? A remake of “Zardoz” starring Matt Damon?

“Independence Day” and “Armagheddon” both came out about the same time, both were big, dumb, special-effect heavy brain candy... but Armagheddon was at least likably dumb. ID was just irritatingly dumb.

I didnt realize he was on that show. Ill have to tune in! If you have Netflix, I'd recommend watching the first three seasons first. There's really no way to jump right in without the whole story - especially with the Buy More crew and the "Intersect."

I like ID because it was a blast of action and I’m a sucker for action shows - no plot necessary, just make things go “boom!”.
