I am constantly amazed at the way conservatives- the ones who genuinely want to reduce the size of government-so consistently reject the one proven method of achieving their goal. Here's National Review's John Hood:

Idiot.
Okay, lets translate. The Democraps would rather sink the whole country in debt and watch unemployment soar, than cut spending without permanent tax increases included.
Thanks for the news bulleten, Castro.
Thats not what he's saying at all. He's saying that he doesn't want to shrink government at all,but if cutting spending in certain areas that don't serve his constituencies can be done in order to cement in permanent tax increases, and give cover to the Democraps in the process, he'll go along with it.
More logic from a Journolister.
Soooo, why then are you not writing about the added 2 TRILLION DOLLARS Obammy added to our deficit THIS year?
The real conservatives know how. He must be talking about the RINOS who are a part of the shakedown.
Shorter Jonathan Chait: Print lotsa dollars, raise taxes (while cheating on your own...), and then bury all the stories about inner-city unemployment at Great Depression levels and constantly claim to be “helping” the poor (so that well-to-do white Libs can conformably stay in power and never have to suffer the same fate)...
Sounds like a plan-thx Jonathan!...
Well, first you pay off the unions and the teachers and the bloated Democrap State governments with a trillion buck porkulous, THEN you pay off the immigrants and the Democrap slackers and govt dependents with a trillion dollar govt health care plan , and THEN you take care of the budget deficit with huge tax increases!. Get it ??
Nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
Reduce the size of government by 1. increasing taxes, and 2. reducing spending.
First, raise taxes.
Then, reduce spending.
We promise.
Right. Reduce spending by giving the addicts more money to spend.
Only in the mind of a liberal.
