"I have stage 4 cancer and I'm dying."
With those brave words, ELIZABETH EDWARDS acknowledged for the first time that she is losing her battle with advanced breast cancer.
In a dramatic public statement to a luncheon audience on Oct. 7, courageous Elizabeth confirmed a recent ENQUIRER article that her treatments have not been successful.
"The outlook for me is pretty dim unless there are great breakthroughs," said the 61-year-old estranged wife of disgraced presidential candidate John Edwards.
In The ENQUIRER issue that went on sale Sept. 23, we reported that Elizabeth appeared to be "losing her brave battle" and seemed to have lost at least 20 pounds in recent weeks.
Elizabeth revealed she'd been forced to undergo a new round of chemotherapy and spent five hours at the hospital the previous day.
"I'm done," she said.

One thing I have learned about National Enquirer over the years is that if they say you’re dying, I don’t care how good you feel, you’d better start pricing grave plots.
God, please bless her and her children...
I cannot stand her or her hubby. Having said that I do not wish this on anyone and hope her final days go by best they can.
Millions of people have cancer, why do we keep going back to this one woman’s plight? Seriously.
I don’t care for the woman, and even less for the pitiful piece of dung she used to run with, but this is very sad, a look at someone facing true mortality. May she find peace.
The NE publishes sensational stories. That's the gig. Nevertheless the editors vet their stories better than most dailies and exponentially better than the New York Times or Dan Rather.
They are hard core at the Enquirer, they pay the friends of the rich and/or famous to spill the beans, they are very good at it, and have only been wrong a few times.
It is said that after they headlined “Johnny Carson to get Divorced”, that Johnny considered suing them for slander.... but decided to go ahead and get divorced as he had planned.
I agree with that. I just can’t help but feel overwhelming sorrow for this poor woman
This POS women along with her POS husband wanted to foist their dysfunctional personal lives on America.....F her.
A loving spouse would be by her side to love and assist through this transition but in this case, I guess not...
Seriously - this is as sad as any battle with cancer, no more no less. Just a lot more public. She promoted her husband's campaign after she knew of his affair and what could come of that. Seemed that was a bit of shameless power seeking. But this is not the time for critical evaluation. Even if she had been healthy - the burden of her husband's betrayal was a nasty thing to have to endure. Much harder when you knew your life expectancy was limited and there would be less time to help your children deal with it (and it takes children a long time to deal with it.) Never cared for her as a political advocate or as a lawyer, but will hope for a miraculous reversal, nonetheless.
She is probaly pissed that she wont live long enough to see the breck girl go to prison. She is in for a very painful exit and I will leave it at that.
Amen. The poor children have not had the best parents. May the Lord bless and protect them.
I feel very sad for her and her family. God bless them.
Well, then Liz Taylor must still be plot shopping after 40 years.
>>God, please bless her and her children...<<
Amen.
This shows two things: 1 John Edwards is not a loving spouse. 2 John Edwards is not a caring person.
Scares me this idiot came close to being president. Worse though is Zero being president.
