Vanity post- looking for recommendations on how to buy commodities
me | October 11,2010 | Joesjane

Good morning freepers. I watch the markets as I am sure a lot of freepers do. I have been interested in silver and other commodities but don't know how to go about investing in them. I have a 401 K but of course it is in the market not in commodities so I would like to diversify. Does anyone out there have any advice on how to go about investing (I would like to do it online)? I would also appreciate any lessons learned if you feel like sharing. Have a wonderful morning.

Consider going to a coin show and picking up physical silver— it’s bound to meet the gold-to-silver ratio eventually.

The only real, good investment opportunity right now: Incandescent Light Bulbs. There will soon be a huge black market for them.

Commodities: Go to the store, buy what you can eat in a week or two.

Seriously, seeking investment advice in an open forum like this is like asking PETA to recommend a steakhouse.

One way to invest in precious metals is to buy stock in mining companies. There are mutual funds that are precious metal focused.

Santa cutie,
There's one thing I really do need,
The deed,
To a platinum mine.
Santa cutie,
and hurry down the chimney tonight.

Canadian-owned Gold- and Uranium- miners are a good bet.

I strongly recommend that you subscribe to the S&A Resource Report (editor Matt Badiali) available from Stansberry.

First of all that is hilarious, I was thinking about stock piling light bulbs. I don't want or need actual investment advice (what to buy or sell) I was wondering about the process. Reputable sites/ minimum account balance...just the mechanics.

Easiest way is through options or futures contracts on the commodities exchanges. But bear in mind that the easiest way to make a small fortune trading options and futures is to start with a large one.

LOL, VERY true! Stick with what you know when investing, but not so close that you can't see the forest for the trees.
