About once a month I jones for some McDonald’s. My stomach complains shortly thereafter. I’ve switched to Hardees for my fix - better taste and all that. BUT - the writer is right, home-cooked burgers are best. I think Bill Cosby had a few words on this a while back.
General Tso’s chicken
You want a good burger????? Listen, I don’t give this secret to just anyone, but since I can see you’re patience is fading,....1600 PA Ave. There’s this black guy there, Barry, just ask for the Waygu beef burger. Sure it’ll cost you about a $100 bucks, but you’re paying for it anyway, so enjoy! There’s a party every night at Barry’s crib! Stop by!
Exception
McD and BK burgers don’t taste right and you can indeed get a much better burger home cooked.
Even the new premium burger tastes odd.
Rather go In and Out or Mojo’s.
A friend of mine discovered something most of us may have overlooked. At Carl’s Jr. on a lot of burgers, your hamburger is not 100% meat- you can pay more for that. The Big Carl for example, isn’t 100% beef but the Six Dollar burger is.
I’m still addicted to In-N-Out Double Double with cheese but there are non in the midwest. :-( Some pizzas I like but buying from the grocery store as you did, then topping with your favorites makes the BEST pizza ever.
RE: Pizzas—have you tried Domino’s lately? They were my least favorite by far, but they went back to the drawing board, so to speak, and their pizza is now amazing. Far superior to Papa John’s even (there’s something I never thought I’d say).
Agree generally. I must say that these days I’ll eat at Five Guys. When I was in CA, In-N-Out was still good (and they are a Christian company).
But the substandard ingredients and very questionable hygiene has now made returning to home preparation more of a reality for us now. Products from China also are very unhealthy i general (I have first hand knowledge of this). Melamine in powdered milk, dog food was not accidental — they will do WHATEVER to lower costs — they don’t care that some human or dog half a world away may have adverse health effects. But due to price, most restaurants use lots of primary ingredients from China.
Oyyyy! Mate! Does ya like a litter 'Roo in yer buhrger?
I don’t know how to post pictures. But if I did, I would post a pic of David Hasselhoff(taken by his daughter) stuffing a burger in his mouth, whilst seriously inebriated and flailing around on the floor.
Kind of like having to look at a closeup of Helen Thomas whenever one of your Freepers decides it’s time for us to lose our appetites.
But yur making me hungry, bbd..and it’s only 9:15 am.(post word Vanity after your heading next time?)
Micky D’s is good for the following, according to my daughter;
You are driving to your fifth call of the day, you are a nurse who visits teen mothers in their homes to “counsel” them about their impending baby birth.
You are starving and running short on time.
Voila! McD’s looms ahead.
Fries are hot, drink is cold, burger is..well, you know the rest.
Just sayin’
I have not gone to McDonalds in years... I stayed away from fast food period. I believe the best burger place though from fast food places will be Carls Jr. That will be one place I think I will go to if I need a burger.
I wonder if it has something to do with all these chains trying to be "healthy". A few years ago I remember some Hindus filing a law suit against McDonalds because the french fries were deep fried in animal fat. I don't know if they won or not, but McDonalds switched to pure vegetable oil and their fries have not tasted as good since. IMO if you are that health conscious you have no business going to any fast food place.
We’re lucky in north Idaho - we have Hudson’s Hamburgers - same family and recipe for the last 60 years - they are awesome!
I have not eaten at a national chain burger place (Including Red Robin) since 1998.
We’ve noticed too that the burgers have been lacking. I was never a fan of McDonald’s but did like Burger King, but, lately they seem to be skimping. The char flavor isn’t as strong, and the lettuce, tomato, mayo etc seem to be the absolute minimum. I even told them the last time that if they skimp and destroy their signature burger, it would ruin their business.
As for pizzas, what are the big 3 you are talking about?
...it’s about quantity - not quality...to keep the price down - things like beef need to be taken out - and additives added to get the same taste...it’s all baout image - but the human body doesn’t change - you’ll notice it in the bathroom....just saying...
I tend to agree on both counts. Both “Pizzas” and “Burgers” from the national chains SUCK! You are MUCH better off cooking your own burger, or buying from a local restaurant that patties their own meat. Pre-made burger patties are terrible too!. Also, if you are going to make your own burgers, AVOID “ hamburger meat” from Wal-Mart(their stuff doesn’t even resemble red meat, in taste or appearance). You would be just as well to go to McDonald’s, or east something else! Get your meat as local as possible.(local stores, regional chains if you can’t find local)
The same applies to Pizza. My wife and I make an awesome home made pizza, but it can get a bit expensive. When we don’t want to fix our own, we’ll get one from a local pizza chain. They are FAR superior to the National chain pizza places.
Used to, the food from the national chains wasn’t THAT bad, but they have went way down hill over the past few years. I believe they are cutting corners on their ingredients and quality to save a quarter or two, here and there. I’d rather pay a dollar more for a good burger than to get a bun full of suckage!
Another excetion is Foster’s Grill.
