When you look at the climate charts for the last million years, you come to one conclusion:
There is such a thing as global warming.
But it always lasts just a short period of time, geologically speaking, 20K years or so.
And it is ALWAYS followed by a huge, precipitous drop in temperatures, and an ice age that lasts about 80-90K years.
Good point. I’ve not made it that far north, but have been in South Dakota and have froze my tail off in their ice storms.
Guess I'll need a pair of mucluks.
Watch the reply’s day to day and the deluge that comes. They have the best pictures and really event their life on the gift of East Tennessee. They are ready for winter.
Exactly. Gotta get me some of that global warming...
Yeah, the sunspot numbers are still low, so the winters will continue to be cold. Dang!
Enjoy your fires. We used to burn a mixture of Pinon Pine and Oak. Pinon smells great.
Very nice of you to post this. I’ll check in periodically.
Thanks.
The sun is still sleeping. That means more clouds. That also might be part of why the jet stream is slowing, although any relationship there is poorly understood at best. (Seen some theories, but very speculative and obscure.)
Regardless, we are going to get pounded this winter. But that’s not the scary part.
The scary part is that a good chunk of the Nothern Hemisphere might not have a real summer next year if the sun doesn’t wake up.
Also, the forces involved completely drawf man and our works. So we’ll just have to deal with it...
How can they say with certainty it will be the coldest winter in the last 1000 years? Really? Doesn’t anyone in media ask for definitive proof for statements like this?
Like the 1600s cooling period and the 1800s cooling period, how can they know it will be colder than that?
People will be urged by the eco-nuts to buy SUVs to heat the planet up! Want to burn your leaves? Go ahead! Get wood burning stoves! High sulfur gas and coal are now mandatory!
Where are you? It’s predicted to be 49 here on Friday night.
We’re about 3 weeks ahead here, as far as cooling down goes,
Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner! Glaciation is the norm for the planet. Short interglacial warm periods are not the norm for this planet.
actually glaciation is the norm during the Ice age that we are in in. The norm is about 5 deg C warmer then it is today.
I doubt the sun is sleeping. If anything we’ve been getting smacked by a solar burst lately. The radiation from the sun is unusually intense for this time of year.
Where we live it’s 7200’ DA with a reasonable daytime breeze and crystal clear nights. Our pollution index is non-existant which means the sun we get is not amplified by it.
So far we’ve been getting a 38-42° temperature swing between daytime highs and lows over the past 2 months. That’s about 13° more than normal deltas. Unusual heat has hit our area this year, the hottest summer on record.
Locations that are getting cooler weather this winter will be getting it because the jet stream will park right over the area, pulling arctic air down. Other locations will see unusually warm weather this winter.
Not to worry, the Earth is still plenty cool. No global warming here...
