True..It insane to talk about the “best” solo or anything else in music. It’s all dependent of what’s beong SAID by the guitarist and the emotion in back of it. TOTALLY SUBJECTIVE on many levels.

You and I agree on practically nothing, but “The Dutchman” by Steve Goodman is a phenomenal song. I saw him in Santa Rosa, CA in 1976. The guy was great.

This is somebodys list, alright. Except for a few selections, it sure as hell aint mine. This seems like the top 50 of the top 40 radio. I'm no connoisseur of guitar, but Stevie Ray Vaughn at #20? Almost any of his albums contains an instrumental song that could be higher on this list.
No B.B. King at all?
No Brian Setzer?

HE was stupid sloppy with a slide. Lighting my dogs ass on fire sounded better..You want slide guitar? Try Rod Price.

“Eric Clapton Classical Gas.”
I’ve never heard Eric Clapton do “Classical Gas.” Mason Williams, yes; but not Clapton. Was it on an album?

Agreed. Hell, the produced a lot of good guitar solos. When I need to clear my head, I play some Ramble On or Misty Mountain Hop.

Brian Eno--The Album is Warm Jets and the song is Baby's On Fire. Searing guitar solo from an unexpected source.
Robert Fripp.

During a previous ping, a couple of people on the list said they didn’t get it. I guess there’s a limit of how many recipients you may include in a single ping. I’ll be sure to ping the list in two halves.
