NBC and Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller are remaking the 1960s classic sitcom The Munsters, Entertainment Weekly reports.

NBC has ordered a pilot for the project, described as "Modern Family meets True Blood," according to EW. (So, funny and full of unsexy sex scenes?) Director Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy) is also said to be interested in a behind-the-scenes role.

I don't see how. The old Munster home is currently occupied on Wisteria Lane.

My question as well.

The talent of new ideas died long ago.

And when they do re-hash old ideas, especially old TV shows, the results are crap. Thinking and being really creative is just tooooo hard these days.

Remakes are a sound business strategy in Hollywood. But
your point is well taken. Hollywood likes to build on
previous success. (Translation: management is afraid to
take risks.)

That show was a product of the pop culture of the time, when B-Horror movies, and the Beatles were all the rage. It’s not something that can just be redone now.

This is going to be a disaster.

For pete’s sakes...the remake’s been DONE already!! “The New Munsters” was on TV from 1987 to 1991. John Schuck played Herman and Lee Meriweather played Lily.

They certainly can’t do better than the original.

Hello? Hollywood? LEAVE IT ALONE!

It was a product of the times and can't be replicated successfully. They should know this by now, it's already been tried and bombed.

So many weird, wacky, wonderful shows of that era. I've often wondered if the writers and producers didn't start dabbling with psychoactives well before pop culture caught on. The ones that remain popular are crazy enough, but then there are the ones people have forgotten, like It's About Time. or My Mother, The Car. Thinking back, they were just bizarre, but people continue to be entertained by them.

Because Lovey said Thurston can't hang around the mansion all day when he loses his next election.

Don't forget the police classic

Car 54, Where are you?

What could be next
The Rifleman - to be seen as The Riflewoman?
A poor single mother lesbian is forced to defend her family and organic ranch/farm/pot grow against an onslaught of Republican oil drillers bent on making money from her families piece of Paradise....

Branded - seen as Branded

A military man busted out of his command for failing to prevent (pick one)
the death of thousands of innocent nuzzies
the death of thousands of protected rare desert gophers
for allowing gays in his unit to both ask and tell

The list could go on Fireball XL-5 - now to be seen as protecting space aliens from Earths pollution.

Howdy Doody - now to be seen as a poor man with treatable mental issues being exploited by evil TV network execs

The list could go on. Have fun with it.

WOW, COOL!! And then they can remake Casablanca! Maybe Tom Hanks can play Rick. As no one would believe him “running guns” as Bogie did, maybe Hanks will have run solar panels to Berkeley. And for Ilsa’s role...Meg Ryan. Rather than gorgeous, sexy and superb like Ingrid, the NEW Ilsa will be cute and filled with yuppie angst! And of course for Louie—Pauly Shore!! Gee..I can hardly wait.
