my stupid ford still wont engage her clutch new slave new Master and new clutch. we have bled all the lines necessary and she still wont shift.
Maybe your clutch is working fine, and your transmission is destroyed and in perpetual neutral.
I like cheese. Roquefort is my favorite. You?
Due to the angle of install of the clutch master cylinder there are special instructions for bleeding in the factory service manual. For some reason none of the aftermarket manuals cover this.
It sounds silly but it really does work. Pump the clutch pedal all the way to the floor 20 times quickly. This forces the air back up into the reservoir. Wait 5 min, top off the reservoir and repeat. You will feel a difference after the first cycle but it has been my experience that 3 cycles are needed to get it all the way back.
Maybe if you stopped calling your Ford “she” you would get a rational response for “it”.
I have never seen a manual transmission in a explorer, but if its a hydraulic version as you said it may be a actuator problem where it connects to the throw out bearing. It also may have internal seals problems. Take it to ford if your guessing after changing parts it may be cheaper.
any relation to Helen Thomas?
The flux capacitor has switched polarity.
Try turning the disgronifier counter-clockwise until you hear a click - should be about 1/4 turn. If it doesn't explode, you're good to go.
It may be gone to the point it won't engage. Easy to identify. Put the vehicle in neutral. Start the vehicle - keep the emergency brake on and one foot on the brake pedal. Without putting your foot on the clutch, attempt to place the transmission into a gear - if it grinds and resists going into gear, then the problem is in the clutch linkage somewhere (try priming the slave cylinder and re-bleed the lines - make sure you're seeing the new, clean fluid from the lines). If it doesn't grind, or grinds a little, but goes into gear without much effort, the clutch disk itself, and possibly the flywheel need to be looked at.
Far worse is the possibility of the transmission being kaput. There could be a broken input shaft on the transmission, or worse.
Have you checked the torque on the pressure plate bolts?
The bolts on the pressure plate need to be tightened in a star pattern instead of a circular pattern. Otherwise the torque will fall off. (I know nothing about cars, but this is coming from an engineer who spent most of his career building Explorers.)
Just in time to be legit and ready for the election season.
No answers from the thread poster, perhaps he/she/it has a shifting problem, as in running out of gas???
check the, uh, specs on the end line for the rotary girder
