I thought that he had died years ago. I’ve certainly not read anything about him in years.

He’s Carrie Fisher’s Dad. She has severe bipolar disease, bad enough that she’s had delusional spells. It’s often inherited - my guess is she got it from him. He seems to have had the typical bad judgement/impulsiveness/giftedness that goes with it.

Fisher died Wednesday in Berkeley of complications from hip surgery, I am sure he was told it would be a routine operation.

R.I.P. to Eddie. Pain back in the day when Taylor left him. Lots of painfull shufflin’ with high-profile relationships. He seemed to be a good dude. Rest well.

Carrie didn’t seem to like him too much. He did put her mom through a hellish divorce by having an affair with someone she thought a good friend, Liz Taylor.
Carrie, shall we say, has a lot of “issues” (bipolar will do that to you) but she can show a scathing sense of humor.
On reading her father’s tell all book, Carrie said, “That’s it. I’m having my DNA fumigated.”

My mother is 96 years old and she still hasn’t forgiven Eddie Fisher for what he did to Debbie Reynolds.
RIP Eddie.

“Pain back in the day when Taylor left him”
Ask Debbie Reynolds-Fisher about the pain of an adulterous spouse making a fool of himself (back in the days when it wasn’t socially common to be public about it), humiliating and leaving her with 2 little kids
That’s what ruined his career- thinking with his schwanz and humiliating and abandoning his family
