Your title is a misrepresentation. That was not William Shatner, but a character he portrayed.
They didn’t give them up ... the government here took them - well made it almost impossible to own one. A station manager said he had to fill out a twenty page document just to have a .22 to shoot raiding dingo’s ...
An Aussie pharmacy major lived in our med frat house when I was going to school at U of Iowa. He owned several shotguns and loved hunting pheasants and quail with me in Iowa. Probably had to give them up...
Gun restriction is pretty tight here .... but then, statistics have shown that gun crime has gone up .... too confusing I think ....
Canada, Australia, Great Britain all went the way of massive gun control, although there is impetus I hear in Canada for the repeal of the national registry.
We are the only Anglo nation left with a vestigial remnant of firearms freedom.
In other words, guns were confiscated from everyone but criminals. Sounds like hope and change, eh ?

Now, that’s a great clip!
They took them by force. The guy who was the inspiration for the character Crocadile Dundee, refused to give up his guns, they killed him.
And that’s the name of that tune.
From an interview with Glen Beck in 2008: "We need we need the population to say we need a Democratic revolution, and lets get back to the basics of the Constitution."
He may be out there with some of his comments but I have never heard of a libtard believing in getting back to the basics of the Constitution.
And therein lies the difference between Americans, and everyone else. We're a unique people, with with a birthright of liberty that was paid for in our ancestors' blood.
We will never willingly (or peacefully) give up that freedom.
