btw, I learned tonight uncredited in the original is mugger Denzel Washington. They always talk about Jeff Goldblum as the rapist and Chris Guest as the patrolman, but give Denzel a pass.
Denzel Washington ... Alley Mugger #1
Sly Stallone as Paul Kersey. I suppose this means no Colt 32 Police Positives. M-60s at least.
ATTENTION HOLLYWOOD:
NO.
MORE.
REMAKES.
!!!!!
A remake of Death Wish is shameful, what next Dirty Harry?
Check out “Harry Brown” starring Michael Caine a excellent vigilante movie.........
I wish they would stop too.
You can’t remake Death Wish,Wizard of Oz,The Exorcist,Dirty Harry,Jaws or Star Wars.
Kersey/Callahan 2012!
“Adrian!”
Exactly. I don’t know what his “current” position is, but during the Klinton regime he was anti gun (for the rest of us) while he had permits and a range in his home). Let the libtards go to this guy’s movies. I will spend my precious $ on folks that support my rights.
Death Wish and Dirty Harry have been ripped off so many times (including their own sequels) an official remake doesn’t mean much. However, Death Wish is a better prospect for straight remake because that character was always supposed to be an every man. Plus the sequels were lousy. Dirty Harry is just too associated with Eastwood’s persona to ever work with somebody else in the title role. Plus the Harry sequels were decent for the most part.
Good. He can ruin this fine picture much like he ruined the fantastic original “Get Carter” with Micheal Caine. Find a new idea.
I think they’re actually going to remake the Wizard of Oz: http://www.cinematical.com/2010/03/10/hollywood-prepares-for-dueling-wizard-of-oz-remakes/
The films you mentioned are all perfect or close to it for what they wanted to be. Remakes are best when a film had the kernel of a great idea or some great aspects but had alot of weaknesses as well. “Thomas Crown Affair” with Pierce Brosnan was a great remake because the original had a great concept but was super-dated and McQueen was never right for the part anyway. Plus making Crown an art thief instead of a bank robberer added the right touch of whimsy. Bronson vehicles (I’m thinking “The Mechanic,” “Mr. Majestyk, “St. Ives”) are good candidates because, although Charlie was an undeniable bad ass, they usually suffered from crappy direction and come off today as very dated.
Yeah the first Death Wish was good the rest horrible, and as for Dirty Harry The Enforcer was the last good one ,Clint was old and tired in the last two..
Normally i would say no way could anyone play the Dirty Harry role, but when Hollywood can do a remake of True Grit with Jeff Bridges playing John Wayne’s role every movie in Hollywood is up for grabs..
No, Hollywood! Please don’t try to remake this classic. No one can replace Bronson in this story. Especially Rocky.
The first act of Sudden Impact was pretty good but too much Sandra Locke can ruin any film. It’s almost like she was sleeping with the star to get a career—oh yeah, she was. I love the idea of a grizzled old Dirty Harry. 3 great scenes from that flick I can quote word for word:
The diner, i.e., “Go ahead, make my day” (of course)
The scene where Harry grabs the punk in the elevator
The scene where Harry makes the old mob boss “vapor lock”
Yeah it had it’s moment, but i was sick of Locke..I believe she had to be in about 6 Clint movies and always played a whiny biatch imho....
