A great movie, better IMHO than either of its imitators.
God bless you Mr McCarthy, and thanks for at least one great film.

McCarthy was one of the great leading men of all time.
Few times he played a hero but when he did, he was excellent.
But when he played a villain he did so with great aplomb.
Quite often McCarthy’s performances were studies in underacting and subtlety. He never needed to be hammy.

He was one terrific character actor and the guy kept working until I guess he could not.
Can't pick any single role I liked but he could be counted on to always deliver.
His sister by the way was the novelist Mary McCarthy.

RIP Mr. McCarthy. Thanks for scaring the crap out of me when I was 9.

Kevin was the brother of novelist Mary McCarthy-—famous for her book “The Group”
The book was adapted as a 1966 movie of the same name starring Candace Bergen.

McCarthy was a great character actor. He was in at least one episode of “The Twilight Zone”.
To: JoeProBono
I also remember him from an episode of “The Twilight Zone.” He played a man who was hundreds of years old, as a result of an elixir that he bought from an alchemist in medieval times. He was eventually confronted and exposed by one of his many wives.
The scene where they are hiding in the cave and she falls asleep and he shakes her awake and then you can tell by looking into her eyes that it is no longer her... still one of the all time scariest moments in a movie.

I'm not sure how many remember “Flamingo Road,” the TV series, but I enjoyed it, especially the season of voodoo. Never released on DVD, I don't believe. Anyway, RIP.
