Playboy Bunny, Tiffany Livingston, Tries To Exit Jet Mid-Flight
My Fox NY ^ | Today | Staff Report

MYFOXNY.COM - A Playboy centerfold tried to bust out -- midair -- from a jet amid a bad case of high anxiety.

Law enforcement officers met a JetBlue plane at its arrival gate in Newark Liberty International Airport Thursday afternoon because of a passenger who was causing a disturbance on board, the airline reported.

The passenger was identified as 21-year-old Tiffany Livingston. She was aboard JetBlue Flight 522 from Florida to Newark, N.J., on Thursday when she bolted from her seat and tried to open the door of the plane.

She had became agitated because of turbulence and appeared to grab the handle of an emergency door, a source told Fox 5 News. Then two off-duty police officers who happened to be on the flight stopped her.

The plane, Flight 552 from Fort Myers, Florida, landed safely and without incident, said Alison Croyle, a spokesperson for the airline. "JetBlue will cooperate fully with local authorities, who are investigating this matter," she said in a statement.

"She said she's gone through this before, but never this bad, and didn't have ... her medication," one source told the New York Post .

Livingston was detained and placed in federal custody.

She was the centerfold for the debut edition of VIP, the Singapore version of Playboy, in which she was described as "not just another pretty face."

"Tiffany boasts the immaculate poise of a mature model wrapped with a bubbly demeanor," the profile said.

Asked if she believed in destiny, Tiffany Livingston posted, "I'm the kind of person, who needs to feel like everything happens for a reason. When you date a guy and it goes badly, that's horrible. But if you can write a song about it, then it was worth it."

“UPDATE: According to latest developments and interviews to Livingston, police believes she was not trying to open the door, but finding a way to stabilize herself during the attack. So, now they have released her and have announced that this will not be treated as a crime.”

And a young FBI Agent has a phone number and a promise to “get together sometime.”

Not as dumb as she looks.

She had became agitated because of turbulence...

Having done a fair amount of flying in my day I must admit that my first instinct is to head for the emergency exit when things get choppy!

The Dim Bulb Awardee of the week.

I'm not sure about that. She could have been trying to increase her visibility. Now she might do some talk shows, get a reality show gig, or a acting spot. I predict O'Reilly will have her on to interview.

>>”No, I think it’s more about altitude.’

IMHO, the altitude was just the last straw. (Actually, the decreased partial pressure of oxygen.)

I think that it is an accumulation of stresses; toxins in air and food, hurrying to the airport, low/high blood sugar, a reaction to someone’s perfume, going through the PSA check, a little fear of heights, a little claustrophobia, many more. These all may be fairly minor, and someone in good health can suppress any reaction to them. However, an undiagnosed subclinical infection, maybe some sinus pain from decreased air pressure, and a low partial pressure of oxygen, and the brain’s ability to suppress panic is not sufficient.

I know one person who has “panic attacks” when his blood sugar gets too low. A person might ask for something with sugar. OTOH Carbon dioxide is used to experimentally induce panic attacks; deep slow breathing might help, and they might bring a small bottle of oxygen for a quicker result.

The brain needs a lot of sugar for fuel. It also needs a lot of oxygen. Riding in a narrow aluminum tube, in a cramped seat, at 40,000 feet, is an unnatural act, which requires a lot of psychic energy to pretend to be normal/natural. Anything that diminishes psychic energy could trigger panic.

Another thing which might help in a mild attack: It is not YOU that is in a panic, it is your body. Sometimes, you can separate the two.
