Obamacare won't be repealed (GOP likes the power they will inherit)

Health care reform repeal activist Michael Tanner complains that none of the Democrats who voted against the Affordable Care Act have signed on to repeal. Meanwhile, Republicans are decidedly lukewarm:

Among the six Republicans who have not signed either discharge petition are senatorial candidates Mark Kirk in Illinois and Mike Castle in Delaware. This is particularly surprising in the case of Kirk, who once vowed to “lead the effort” to repeal the health-care law.

I do not for one second believe John McCain sees the light or feels the heat.

He is a duplicitous snake. And needs dealt with as you would a snake in your child’s nursery.

do you have a quote or link to prove this?

Castle is only signing on because he is in danger of losing his primary.

This should not have been an issue. It should have been signed onto MONTHS ago. Castle is just pulling a mccain. (hi honey I’m baaaaack!)

I’d settle for the House not funding the new Health Care laws. We about to find out if Congress functions under a one party rule.

A third party usually forms in these types of situations. A new party could start with the letter “T”

Torches and pitchforks might be excellent symbolism. I was thinking during Beck’s affair that it might be very helpful to march. March without permits from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol, then surround the capitol with a few hundred thousand people, demand change, and refuse to leave until change is enacted.

They'd kill us all without a moment's hesitation, adn bulldoze our bodies into mass graves.

And the MSM would be leading trilling parties in the streets, and praising Obama for finally ridding America of the evil conservative/white/Christian/rich/heterosexual plague.

And Obama would declare 8/28 as National Tolerance and Freedom Day.

Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.

If the WV lawsuit wins, the whole Bill collapses. There’s 21 other states that have lawsuits also.

I hate to be found in agreement with New Republic but I said it first here in FR comments when this thing looked like it would pass. The Republicans will make periodic shows of fixing it and streamlining it and making it more efficient and ironing out inequities but they will not repeal it or cause the hundreds of thousands of new government employees to be fired. Only a portion of the firebrand conservatives that enter congress in January will actually work for repeal. They will not be close to enough. Only a small portion of them will vote to repeal anything that the communist has successfully passed. It is just like the spitting revulsion of the left to Homeland Security. But what happens when they are in position to repeal it? They strengthen it. They like the control and power it gives them. Republicans are no different. They think all that control gives them an opportunity to make things right from the top even as they know it can’t be done.

May I suggest that the traditionally Fascist New Republic is no place to look for the truth about anti-Fascist endeavors.

The best way to kill Obamacare is to pass a bunch of co-legislation that gives everyone the right to opt out

You don't get to opt out of paying for government programs, though you can opt out of receiving the "benefits."

The only way to defang Obamacare is to repeal it outright. The problem is that it's doubtful whether the Republicans will actually do so. After all, they promised to eliminate the Department of Education decades ago; that Department still exists today and in fact was enlarged by Republicans under the last administration.

The Democraps haveover 20 senate seats up in 2012. We’ll get to 60 then, God willing.

The Tea Party, conservatives, et al, need to keep the Repubs feet to the fire until then. Just voting out the Dimorats is not enough. Pressure needs to be applied even after midterms.

It may be that the electorate is beginning to see they have power if they will only apply it to both parties.

If the GOP doesn't begin efforts to repeal it and defund it, they will cease to be a Party.

A new Party will emerge (Tea Party).

I won't GOP again.

We need to be prepared to fight for our country, our laws, and way of life. The people who are in power now, are parasites. The will not willingly go. Some strong medicine will be required to make them detach.

” Meanwhile, over in the Senate, a bill by Jim DeMint (R., S.C.) to repeal Obamacare has attracted only 21 cosponsors, meaning that 19 Republican senators have not yet committed to repeal. Among the scofflaws are Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell and Republican conference chairman Lamar Alexander. “

McConnell RINOS control the party.

Tom DeLay was on Fox last friday demanding a ONE PAGE REPEAL of the entire Obamacare bill. Without this, nothing will happen.

RE :”Tom DeLay was on Fox last friday demanding a ONE PAGE REPEAL of the entire Obamacare bill. Without this, nothing will happen.

I would be easily willing to bet this doesn't happen anytime soon. Why? Because now there are people who are getting something at others expense, children under 26, and those with pre-existing conditions and free diagnostic tests. And those benefits that drive up the cost and the premiums for others are popular with most voters as with most give-aways that sound ‘fair’. (This could now change with time.) Republicans know that if they successfully repeal anything then they could get ownership of everything that Obama will now get the blame for. Repealing those mandates too soon will make those benefiting from them angry and that independent voter that wanted those benefits in law (not realizing the costs to them ) could flip again. RINOs wont take that risk.

Republicans have it very easy now. Obama just took ownership of America's health care problems.

It's kind of like the coming tax increases/end of tax cuts, Republicans win politically for 2012 if they try to change it and lose to Obama (fail) and then things get worse. Dems 'success' also shows that these things dont work, as with the stimulus.

The other way they win is if Obama gives in on something big that he has fought for, like tax cuts for ‘the rich’ and it looks like he never believed what he said.

“...A conservative Congress in November is the start...”

A journey of ten thousand miles begins with a single step forward.

During a conversation regarding gun rights that I had with another pro-2nd Amendment activist some years ago, I expressed how frustrated I was with the apparently unstoppable advance of liberals...I said something on the order of “When does this crap stop?”

He replied “When you stop breathing. It’s a lifelong war.”

And with that one statement, something became crystal clear to me: The left won’t ever stop. Their sh*tcan ideology has been around since at least 1848 when Marx/Engels wrote their stupid commie manifesto. Every little win for them is a HUGE loss for us. And by “us”, I mean free people, people who consider themselves Americans and not “citizens of the world” or whatever stupid appellation currently in vogue with the socialistische glitterati eurotrash. Every calamitous (political) event of the last century and a half can be places at their feet in one fashion or another. What did Clauswitz say - “War is the continuation of politics by other means”? I say reverse that phrase, and you have the left’s view of this battle.

This fight we’re in is not only for us, it’s for our kids and grandkids and so forth.

The left uses all weapons available - Islam, democrats, culture, schools, media, laws, guns, terror - all of it. They are playing to win. They are most decidedly NOT playing just to “not lose”.

One election changes nothing...? Yes it does - it’s a start. Reagan changed a lot, and we went to sleep because a kind old grandfather was at the helm, and we trusted him to keep things right. And let it slip.

This November is a wake-up call. We must NEVER trust ANY of these people again; “Trust but Verify”, remember?

We send them there to do a job of managing the smooth operation of the affairs of the country, NOT to govern, regulate, oppress, subjugate, threaten, or coerce us.

If the elected cannot or will not understand that distinction, they need to be removed from positions of ANY authority.

What we are witnessing right now is the culmination of THEIR dream - forcing socialism on the country by writ of law. They played “by the rules”, won “by the system”, and are now using the “system” to stick it to us.

So we must not stop, must not go back to sleep and wait for someone else to do this. Because there IS no one else. There’s us. Now, tomorrow, next year, ten years from now. While WE’RE here, it’s OUR responsibility and it was handed to us by our fathers and grandfathers, paid for in their blood on a thousand battlefields, and bought at a dear price, that we can’t ever repay - except by NOT BACKING DOWN.

If WE lose it now, there is no one else to get it back. History is full of examples of what happens when free people don’t stand up when they need to...They got eaten.

Not on our watch. That phrase should be the campaign sign for the Tea Party.

Socialism? Not here, not now, not ever. Send it back to the sewer of failed ideology where it belongs.

One step at a time. One congresscritter, one senator, one local election at a time. More if possible.

So talk to neighbors, associates, etc., and try to make them realize what actually is going on; not everyone is tuned in to what is happening. This is a prime reason why the left has been so successful.

They count on ignorance, and got it in 2008.

That is an amazing long post. And I nearly agree with everything.

Just a few things I’d like to point out.

#1 this war is lifelong, but it’s far older than the 1800s. It is a war against ideas, powers and principalities. It began in Heaven and will end here soon.

#2 for the last 60 years, we have been losing steadily. If we are to have ONE victory, it must be here and it must be now.

Once we cross the 15 trillion mark, once we have legal sodomy. We LOSE the WAR. And while there may be a few more battles thereafter, we are in practice, defeated.

We CANNOT let that happen. We MUST KNOW where we truly stand.

THIS

IS

IT !

“...It began in Heaven and will end here soon...”

Maybe so. I’ll leave the theology out of it for now, other than to say my freedom and liberty comes from God, and NO MAN has a right to take them from me without serious harm coming back their way.

We’re here NOW. It’s our job.

Like Churchill (one of my personal heroes) said:

“When great causes are on the move in the world, stirring all men’s souls, drawing them from their firesides, casting aside comfort, wealth and the pursuit of happiness in response to impulses at once awe-striking and irresistible, we learn that we are spirits, not animals, and that something is going on in space and time, and beyond space and time, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty...”
