Obamacare won't be repealed (GOP likes the power they will inherit)

Health care reform repeal activist Michael Tanner complains that none of the Democrats who voted against the Affordable Care Act have signed on to repeal. Meanwhile, Republicans are decidedly lukewarm:

Among the six Republicans who have not signed either discharge petition are senatorial candidates Mark Kirk in Illinois and Mike Castle in Delaware. This is particularly surprising in the case of Kirk, who once vowed to “lead the effort” to repeal the health-care law.

The best way to kill Obamacare is to pass a bunch of co-legislation that gives everyone the right to opt out, and guarantees personal choice. There are a ton of incremental things that could be done to defang it, and it will then die a natural death. The other thing that could be done to kill it is to pass co-legislation that requires all elected officials to receive Obamacare.

Torches and pitchforks might be excellent symbolism. I was thinking during Beck’s affair that it might be very helpful to march. March without permits from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol, then surround the capitol with a few hundred thousand people, demand change, and refuse to leave until change is enacted.

Tell people to bring food. I don’t know what would be done about bathrooms. Plan to stay a week, a month. Operate the demonstration in shifts - go to your hotel or home to shower and shave and then come back. Screw work. Easy for me to say.

Yes, it would be illegal, and it could be bloody. It would definitely be a “leave the kids at home” sort of event. But, do you think they would hear us THEN?

It’s going to be tough, but I think we can get this repealed. It won’t happen in the next 2 years, since Obama can veto anything, but ultimately, it’s up to us. I’m relatively optimistic. Look at all the RINOs we’ve taken out already. Senators with decades of seniority, millions in the bank.... gone.

Quick story: my Congressman is Jim Gerlach in PA-6. I would consider him somewhat of a RINO. He voted for the bailout, Cash for Clunkers, and SCHIP. I had a chance to attend a small breakfast with him and about another 25 GOP people about a month ago. Some people asked him about his RINO type votes, and his answer was, “well I represent my district”, where he pointed out Obama has a 54% approval rating. I thought this was a fair answer.

I asked him if he would vote to repeal Obamacare, because to me, nothing else matters. He was very adamant that he would definitely vote to repeal and replace. By replace, he said we need Tort reform, more competition across State lines, that sort of thing. Well, I’ll take him at his word, and support him in this election cycle.

If he wavers at all, if he votes to fund Obamacare in the next Congress, I, and probably the rest of the Tea Party people will turn our backs on him, and he’ll probably lose in 2012, as he’s always in a pretty tight race. I’m ok with that. What’s the difference if I have a Democrat or a Republican if both won’t repeal Obamacare? We’ll just keep going, get a good conservative, and try to beat the Democrat who takes Gerlach’s place. If we’re ever going to get rid of Obamacare, the RINO’s have got to go.

ObamaCare is a lawyer's paradise. Republican politicians are lawyers just like Democrat politicians. We knew this and said it before it was passed. There is no provision for controlling litigation, and it involves two thousand pages of fine print, to be interpreted by guess who. This as opposed to the free market choice of the individual, of you and I, to pursue our own contract on our own health.

In America the legal fraternity nullifies and overrides the citizens' preferences and the citizens' dignity. Every day, in every jurisdiction. ObamaCare, illegal immigration, search and seizure. There is one party, the ABA, regardless of the (D) or (R) behind one's name.

Elena Kagan "loves" the Law. She loves it, as do many others, because it gives them importance. Although virtually worthless people otherwise, it endows them with self identity through the authority of imposition on fellow humans. In essence the criminal mindset. Contrast this with the legitimate meaning of Charity, where one desires nothing in return, or with creative engineering where one is occupied with material invention rather than despotism. One does not have to be particularly religious to start seeing why Christ was called to execution by the Pharisees.

Thus a clear revelation of the LEFT. Sinister in Latin. It has resurged over and over across human history, and here we have it, in the name of the Democrats, the professional politicians (Repubs included), the "Party," the Obama administration.

Notice an overbearance of police presence in your neck of the woods lately? It is no longer about respecting you and your human capacity for freedom. Such is the LEFT.

Not all of us asked for it.

We aren’t going to be able to repeal it, we just have to defund it. Moreover, in general people in the field can’t make heads or tails out of it. It’s a complete mess.

Sure, we ARE going to win 100 seats this November. Senate, House and Governors. But. It will NOT change things.

So what is the point in voting? What is the point in posting? Why not just ignore politics altogether?

They have 6 months to repeal it and force an Obama veto. If they don’t, we will drag them out by the hair of their heads. Congress NOT repealing is tantamount to the political class declaring war on the citizens. In case they haven’t noticed, that will NOT be tolerated.

Well, we haven’t seen anything like that in the Republican history books...

...so why would we think it might actually happen now?

If anything, this will force the TEA party to migrate away from supporting Republican candidates and to actually start fielding their own.

Just look at how hard the GOP establishment is supporting Castle against his Republican primary opponent (who, BTW, is supported by the TEA party).

Or look at the debacle in Alaska, again with the GOP working against the TEA party.

The only way Obamacare will be repealed is if we elect people that will repeal it.

If you vote for a Republican regardless of what his positions are, then you’re no better than a run-of-the-mill Democrat voter, voting for who your betters tell you to.

Only point I can see it to tell everyone it's pointless. Nothing will change. Everything is rigged. Great way to ensure the left wins in my opinion. They never preach this. Never, ever. Took them since the defeat of Henry Wallace to get Congress and the oval office but they did it. Obama will be blocked next year but that won't stop them. They'll have another fake ready to run.

No, we try them, find them guilty of treason, and then execute the rinos who won’t restore our freedoms.

We start with the NE rinos.

I agree with you, but that car salesman did cause McCain to undergo a jailhouse conversion. After witnessing the Tea Party movement in action Juan took one look at Hayworth, jumped in the creek and declared himself a born again Conservative. Here is a good piece on the fickle ego maniac from Arizona...http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=38901
