Another man on Long Island defended his home from thugs with a firearm a couple of years ago. He went to prison, even though the evidence clearly showed that the intruder was on his property and, along with his associates, was loudly threatening to murder him and his son.

To give an indication of the mentality of the deceased punk in question: the punk's father stood in gallery and gave a "whoop whoop whoop" when that homeowner was sentenced. When a TV reporter asked the father after the sentencing how he felt, he smiled and told the reporter: "I'm going to Disneyland!" In other words, he knew his multimillion dollar wrongful death civil suit was right on track.

I wouldn’t advertise that I have a gun. If they try to come into the house, shoot them as they cross the threshold. IMHO, firing warning shots just shows them you are afraid to shoot them.

That's where he went wrong. Had it been me listening to those threats against my family the very first round would have gone right between the miscreants eyes. Subsequent rounds for all to follow rapidly. They would have been bagging bodies for the rest of the night.
