I say this as a medical professional; she’s going to be shocked by what he looks like after he’s finished with treatment. I hope she has the fortitude to be by his side through it.

I had a similar situation in my family. Went to Dr. after Dr after Dr trying to find out what was wrong - only to find out that it was Stage 4 cancer that had spread to the bones and the brain .

I don’t care how big of a lib Douglas is...I feel for the family.

All that money and the Big C got him at Stage 4.

I’m sure by now she is wondering why his symptoms weren’t investigated further, considering his risk factors for this type of tumor. Little is to be gained by scolding him for smoking and drinking at this point. He is reportedly rather upbeat, and not bitter, at least not in public.

My friend Evelyn, has had multiple cancers, breast, kidney, thyroid, this last one was a return of thyroid cancer, 1st doc said it was nothing, 2nd said it was cancer, she had to go for 3rd opinion which agreed with doc #2. They got it all they think and no treatment was necessary. Always go for more opinions if you have any doubts.

I have a co-worker who had basically the same thing and fully recovered. It all depends on the type of tumor and how well it responds to treament. I wish Douglas a full and speedy recovery.

Zeta-Jones said she can't stand the thought of watching her husband undergoing chemotherapy and radiation and loosing his strength as he battles the disease.

I hope Mr. Douglas wins his battle against cancer, but that being said, where in heaven's name are the EDITORS at yahoo-news?
"LOOSING his strength"? Good grief!

Well, I’ll PRAY HARD for Mr. Douglas.

“Falling Down” and being Producer/Director (?) of “One Flew Over The
Cuckoo Nest” buys him a lot of stock with me.
(just speaking for myself alone)

“The movie was making fun of white men. It was a liberal movie.”

Nope, just shows that a seemingly normal person can be pushed to the edge and once that starts it gets progressively worst.

Frank Zappa had the same thing happen to him. He went to doctor after doctor and was told nothing was wrong until his prostate cancer became inoperable.

What do you call the med school grad with the lowest score in their class?

The same thing you call the valedictorian...

Hollywood! (set to music). She’s in the prime of her life, he’s not. He certainly won’t be after his “walnut sized” tumor is treated. I’m a bit cynical about the A list crowd, and the “til death do us part” thing.

I am amazed at how stupid people are.

My exact thought when I happen to see your posts.

I forget whether it was Newsweek or Time magazine at the time said it was a “white man going nuts” meaning that all of the world’s problems were being caused by middle aged white guys. No, I haven’t read those magazines in YEARS. So I have to take their interpretation with a huge grain of salt.

Who cares? Most of us with cancer go undiagnosed for a period of time. Normal people don’t complain about it.

So...doctors should be psychic? Unless one knows the circumstances furious is inappropriate. Disappointed, maybe?

I like her, but there is something about her hands that remind me of Seinfeld.

You are mistaken. A delay in diagnosis upsets normal people. And the complain. I know, I have been there.
