The seal pup that spent a night in a couple's Westport motel room in June will be released back into the wild Tuesday. The seal pup that spent a night in a couple's Westport motel room in June will be released back into the wild Tuesday. PAWS Wildlife Center spokeswoman Mary Leake Schildner said the pup is grown up and able to hunt on his own, which means he's ready to return to his natural habitat. PAWS took the seal pup into its care after the couple staying in a motel in Westport had taken it from the beach to their room. The vacationing couple thought they were helping the pup, which they assumed was stranded on the shore. Mother seals will often leave their pups on a beach while they hunt for food. PAWS said the couple could have been badly injured by the pup, which was then 6 to 8 weeks old. The seal will leave PAWS at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and will be released around 12:30 p.m. in Ocean Shores, across the bay from Westport.

I can't believe they were actually able to get the seal to come with them, and not get injured.

That’s what happens when stupid illinformed people believe all that stuff about ‘poor little baby seals’. I bet they drive a prius too (yet another exercise in stupidity that only looks ‘green’).

Mother seals will often leave their pups on a beach while they hunt for food. Heidi Klum must be seriously PO'ed.

Those people should be banned form watching Disney films for the rest of their life.
Next thing you know, they'll try flying their car.

Knowing about seal dentition and behavior, I suggest the couple must be “Seal Whisperers”.

It is reported that the animal spent all of its time on a Posturepedic mattress.
