And look who's coming back.
The Los Angeles Dodgers made some great news Sunday when 82-year-old TV broadcaster Vin Scully announced he plans to return for the 2011 season.
Phew.
The team's biggest asset aside from Dodger Stadium, Scully has been broadcasting games for 61 seasons. Fans of his can exhale now that Scully plans to make it 62.

All I can say, Seven, is I'm glad that time has not come yet. Hallelujah!! When I came out of Mass and turned on my car radio, the press conference was in progress. It took a few minutes to figure out he was giving us the GOOD NEWS. Very good news and it makes perfect sense. He loves the game too much to leave it. What else would he do??!!
BEST. DODGER. EVER.
That one thing I miss when I was living in Fairbanks AK having Vin Scully call a game first spring training game that so true
It come to a time I think what LA Dodgers doing right now I try find when come to the time that when Vin Scully step down or died that they doing they got Charley Steiner foremely of ESPN NOW

Vin Scully doesn’t understand Troy Tulowitzki’s mullet.

I hope he goes until 100.
M’wah!!
I listened to Vin Scully every year until I turned 40 and left Los Angeles. He is unsurpassable.
I miss his voice as a regular part of my life.
We have to do something about this so you can listen to him more often. I guess a satellite dish helps....???
I suppose I could find him on internet radio but I don’t really follow baseball. I just like to hear his voice. Same with my so cal raised wife. Vinny is the best.
Did you know that he warms up by singing old broadway show tunes in his car as he drives to the stadium? (I guess he started that in an earlier era before it seemed gay...)
Compared to what that neighborhood looks like today , the photo looks like it was taken on another planet .
This is great news. There’s little better than listening to Vin Scully call a game on a warm summer evening.
Don't forget Bob Miller of the Kings...but of course, Bob's only been there for 37 years (only), and came at the recommendation of Chick, who did the "words eye view" for 42 years. And Vin's finishing up number 62...a lot of years!
Still waiting for the pit bull part of the story.....
J/k Chet 99!!
Yup! We've had the Extra Innings package on our cable system for a few years now, and I go out of my way to watch a "Vin Scully game" (Or at least part of them, as west coast games tend to end VERY late here on the east coast, LOL) Just hearing Vin call a game (all by himself... no "color" guys needed) is well worth the price of the package, IMO.
Vin Scully is a national treasure. I pray that he continues to enjoy MANY more years of good health.
Thank you, La Enchiladita, for pinging me to the good news! :o)
The chick who creamed herself when Roid Boy announced he was coming back or Smug Michael Kay?
Ugh, that would be Suzyn Waldman, probably one of the worst sportscasters on the planet, IMO. I'll never understand why the Yankees hired someone of her limited skills to co-broadcast Yankees games on WCBS and the Yankee radio network. She's truly awful.
Unfortunately the pics go back to only 1964. Still a fair collection, though.
Got tar, need feathers.
Sign of the year, great job.
GOD bless
