I am so annoyed. I have a software vendor who has failed to make their software compatible with 7 so I’m stuck scrounging copies of XP for my AD domain.

No drivers for a current-production HP printer, no drivers for a current-vintage flatbed scanner, many programs do not run...yeah it’s a HIT alright....hit me in the jewels and wallet in one smack.

Upgraded from Vista to Win7 Home Premium about 8 months ago. I have NEVER had it crash, and all my devices and programs run well with it. I bought this comp pre-loaded with Vista and it works even better with the new OS!

Got it at the ‘employee discount’ price from a friend of mine who works at Microsoft and goes to our church. Perfectly alright as long as I don’t try to re-sell or pirate it.

Funny, I don’t see Windows 7 on my computer. XP still there and quite happy with it.

When I got stuck with Vista I had to dump an almost new printer and buy a new one, then I found that my old Garmin GPS doesn't get along with Vista.

I've already determined that I can't use either one with Windows 7.

There is no way I can keep up!

I liked XP, I had no problems with it.

Running since October 22, 2009 at about 11 a.m., one hour after it was released. ZERO crashes since.

I am a huge fan of Windows 7, especially since it runs vastly better on lesser hardware than Windows Vista. It's stable and fast, something I couldn't say for Windows Vista until they released Service Packs 1 and 2.

I highly recommend it for new machines.

Maybe it is just me but I still yearn to hear the distinctive Windows 95 chime. I sort of brings me back to the days when I first entered the Web. Any links to where I can hear that Win 95 chime again.

I’m on the fence with 7.

What I gained in stability I lost in productivity. Everything is in a different place - often for no discernable reason. Keyboard equivalents (which I used heavily so I didn’t have to constantly take my hands off the keyboard to reach for a mouse) have almost universally changed or been eliminated.

Half of what I do is knowing what to do, and the other half is knowing how to do it. Windows 7 pretty much destroyed my knowledge of how to get anything done. After a few weeks of using it, I’m liking it more, but I have to question why everything had to change. Between the couple of XP machines I still have left, Windows 7, Windows 2003 and Windows 2008, half the time I can’t remember where anything is on the menu, because everything’s in a different place.

The shutdown icon and it’s associate options and version-specific permutations is particularly annoying.

Windows 7?

Heck. I’m already up to Windows 95 and thinking seriously about upping for Windows 98.

Despite the big numbers, Microsoft has been almost eerily silent about its success.

Perhaps it's because Microsoft knows that a HUGE percentage of those sales are a result of people desperate to recover from having a giant turd named Vista crammed down their throat.

What’s the cheapest way to go from Vista to Windows 7 Pro?
