Gun Registration? (vanity/question post)

Posted on 08/12/2010 4:38:40 PM PDT by plinyelder

What reason if any, is there a need for registering a gun?

The way that I see it is .. ONLY Law abiding citizens will follow the registration laws while a criminal WILL get a weapon .. whether it is a knife, grenade, hammer, gun, whatever .. Regardless of law!?

Hence, the question: What reason do we need gun registration laws?

Catch-22. You're law-abiding, so you comply. If you were to violate the law by non-compliance, then your right to freedom from self-incrimination would apply. But you'd be a criminal, and subject to prosecution. Makes ya proud to be an Amurican, don't it?

All this because of the original gun-control laws which are an infringement, in my book, and therefore unconstitutional.

That is too bad to hear about Oregon but I guess it is not really suprising. Oregon has been pretty much Kalifornicated.

>All the military and cops number less than 3,000,000 total.<

Where the drastic shortage of personnel shows up is when there is numerous disturbances occurring in the same city, state or nationwide simultaneously. A delayed or insufficient response only serves to embolden the offenders and their supporters.

Which we can see evidenced in the [illegal] immigration problem.
Or the "Congress is runaway" problem.
Or the "Judiciary is runaway" problem.
Or the "Executive is runaway" problem.

All of them are violating the law, as it is written, and none of them expect to pay any consequence thereof.

I think at this point in time there is little else that would show that their authority has been rescinded and any continuance in power is illegitimate.
Too many people, however, are trained/conditioned/brainwashed to believe that the *position* of authority grants [and makes] any use of [righteous-]power.

Ex-felons should be allowed to own and carry guns. If they’ve done their time, they resume having the same natural right of self-defense the moment they leave prison.

Of course, that isn’t how the laws read.
