"Lola "... Loyal, conservative Canine Freeper and dedicated K-9 companion of Recovering Ex-Hippie, passed away August 3."
I am heartbroken that my wonderful doggie, Lola, died Tuesday morning. She was 15 years old and had been adopted from the Doggie Orphanage in Cleveland. She then moved with me to Jacksonville, FL.
Always a Patriotic Pupster, Lola was called upon by the CIA after 9-11 to break up Terrorist Squirrel Cells in our woods .a calling she dedicated herself to with great enthusiasm. She was the mascot for a fund drive to raise money for the New Orleans Humane society during Katrina.
In 2004, she campaigned along with Freeper Chieftains canine, Brenda, for George Bush. Lola also campaigned for Sarah Palins VP run with her sign Pets for Palin.
She was a big fan of Free Republic, especially the Doggie Ping and the Live 24 TV show thread!
Lola was also a therapy dog and helped many people with emotional problems as my co-therapist. She was a participant in group therapy, child therapy and even on occasion, marital therapy. In 2007 she was called to duty at the Lake City, FL VA Hospital to mentor veterans in the Substance Abuse Residential Program, visiting the unit several days a week. The veterans delighted in Lola, and knew whatever they confided in her would be kept totally confidential. She touched so many lives!
Lola was my faithful companion for 15 years. I learned much about love and loyalty, honesty and compassion from this Person in a Fur Coat. In the last year, Lola had problems with arthritis we made adjustments in our lifestyle. Freeper Chieftain often had to come over and help me get her to the vet. Her difficulties increased in the last few months. I learned that love sees the other as perfect no matter their frailties, and they are as beautiful as ever, maybe more , as the years go on.
On the morning of her last day, she lay there sleeping while I sat there petting her, and comforting her .then she just stopped breathing and was gone.
This is when you learn the value of true friends. My friends, Glenda, Kim, and Jane came to console me. Then our good friend, master finishing carpenter and true conservative, Terry, built a light maple coffin for Lola. Terry and Freeper Chieftain helped me bury her Tuesday night .and now it is very quiet and I miss Lola so much.
Please say a prayer for her and for me, or chant. Thanks for listening to my grief.
I am so very sorry, prayers for you & Lola.
Remember you sharing with you in the ‘24’ live threads how you and your pup would set up to watch Jack Bauer each week. Maybe she is watching Jack in a kind of ‘heavenly’ 24 right now.
I am so sorry. The loss of pets is always hard. God bless you for all of the wonderful years you gave her.
I’m so sorry. What a dog.
How beautiful...
I will look for Lola tonight among the stars.
thank YOu.
So sorry Recovering Ex-hippie (((((Hugs)))))
I sent a prayer for you both. So sorry for your loss, but so admiring of your love and dedication to a wonderful doggie FRiend.
Thank you for lighting the candle and your kind words.
Thank you for your kind thoughts, yes, I was so glad I could be there and not have to go through with “the action I was prepared for to avoid her suffering if needed.”
thank you for your kind words. You can’t imagine how much these posts have meant to me.
thank you so much.
Sending more hugs, my friend :((
The last two we lost, we gained two more each time! The first time from the Humane Society. And the last time, our beloved 19 year old Siamese sent two strays to our backdoor, before she left us.
No wonder we are crazy cat people, can't deal with the grief and keep getting more :0) (our house doesn't smell and we're not really *that* crazy)
Thank you for these tender thoughts and your prayers.
I have the ambivalent feelings of such sadness and emptiness that her “being “ is not present...I think after some time I will feel her ‘prescence” more ...in the spiritual sensing.
Yet, the ambivalence is the memories of her personality and such joy to share life with Lola..that I think how empty it would be to never have another..so i will walk through this.
I have often left posts to those who have lost their Persons In a Fur Coat..and now what comfort and healing these comments are. My friends who are not Freepers are Amazed at the outpouring of support.
And thank you for calling her ‘beautiful dear Lola”.
thank you again for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.
These Furry Sweethearts are so gentle and so compassionate...how much they teach us to be gentle and kind.
What a lucky lady she was to have a life so meaningful. You gave her this.
It’s unbelievable how sweet they are. I still think I see our Shanxi (the 19 year old) wandering/skittering through our halls, almost a year later. I know all of mine have spoken to me from heaven, they’ve left various signs.
One of the ones she “sent us” before she passed was completely feral and wild. Well, he must have domesticated at some point in his harsh life, he’s 6 and has FIV, as we found out. Anyway, now he’s the sweetest 14 pound love monster and lap kitty you could ever imagine.... He never gave up on us and didn’t want Animal Control to take him (they tried), so here he lives :0)
Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread, my heart starts to break for you and I have to share stories about ours...
I wonder how it got to there?<<<
Don’t know the answer, I went to check out the link and there it was.
Ok...at the risk of overdoing it...I have now pinged the “doggie ping list”...which I just found at screen page of Joe Six Pak.........................
Please forgive me if you already received my thread on Lola.
