Packs of coyotes are common in certain areas an attacking dogs isn’t unusual. A pack jumped a fence and attacked a German Shepherd...all they found of him was an ear. They never bothered my Alaskan Malamute...why too much wolf in him.
No, I don’t own the website; I just love seeing the women in their bustles and men wearing bowler hats, posing with their pit bulls. I like old photos. :-)
Very interesting old photos. Thanks.
Now I have to go back and look at the photo I have of the family dog from my greatgrandmother’s family c. 1914.
Thanks for posting this.
They were a popular breed at the time; both Helen Keller and Teddy Roosevelt (among numerous others) were pit bull owners.
I too love the old pics. It really shows how adored those dogs were at one time, by every type of person, and also how most were not gigantic slobbering monsters, but petite, well-put-together bull and terriers. Thanks for the pictures! I am bookmarking the page to use later.
Aren’t they cool? I suspect that Laura Ingalls Wilder’s childhood dog Jack, the ‘brindled bull dog’, was a pit bull. I don’t think a brachycephalic English Bull Dog could have covered the ground that Jack did.
Love those KBDs. Was looking for one a while back, but ended up with my Malamute instead. Definitely not complaining.
