PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. (AP) -- Gina was a playful 2-year-old German shepherd when she went to Iraq as a highly trained bomb-sniffing dog with the military, conducting door-to-door searches and witnessing all sorts of noisy explosions.
She returned home to Colorado cowering and fearful. When her handlers tried to take her into a building, she would stiffen her legs and resist. Once inside, she would tuck her tail beneath her body and slink along the floor.

That's why my wife doesn't ask me to go to Walmart anymore...

Gina has done her bit. Time for a well deserved retirement.
The only reason people are allowed into Heaven is so the dogs get to see the people they miss. You can’t trust any group of people who don’t like dogs.
I really like what you just posted. It is so true! If people don’t like dogs, they are not to be trusted. Also, if my dog doesn’t like someone, I probably won’t either!
The only reason people are allowed into Heaven is so the dogs get to see the people they miss. You cant trust any group of people who dont like dogs.Wow, perfect!
“The only reason people are allowed into Heaven is so the dogs get to see the people they miss.”
That is beautiful, and is the best comment I’ve read so far today. Here’s hoping my dogs will some day help me get past the Pearly Gates!
When my Mother was dying, she frequently had dreams of seeing my Dad sitting on a big cloud in Heaven, smiling and motioning to her. Just before the end, she had the same dream, but this time my Dad was not alone. Sitting with him on that cloud was every pet Mom had ever known. Many, many pets. She just loved that dream.
“You cant trust any group of people who dont like dogs.”
In my world, one is required to like my dog, before I will even acknowledge their existence, let alone trust them.
Of course my lover boy has become a people magnet.... everyone seems to love him.... especially the ladies and children of all ages. Falco is a 2 year old GSD weighing about 80 pounds. He has become quite a ham.
I have recently taught him to show his teeth... it’s just a trick, but he looks very threatening..... the verbal command is “lib”. ;>)
Warriors home.
Nukes away.
I’ll remember your quote for a long, long time and pass it on.
Yes she does. And also some quiet time to help her get over the stresses she encountered on her tour of duty. The same goes for the fine men and women who serve their country. God bless them all.
Wow, that is a lovely story!
And gives me hope!
GERMAN SHEPHERD PING LIST

>This is a job for Cesar Millan! <
I know this may come as a shock, but there are actually better trainers and canine rehabilitators than Will Smith and Oprah’s television dog strangler.
Humor impaired, are we?
>Humor impaired, are we?<
Nope, just a 40 year’s experience dog trainer who’s sick to death of the “C” word.
Sounds like the green-eyed monster to me.
