Two of my favorite books are Ken Kollett's.

his Pillars of the Earth and World Without End were excellent.

Starting tomorrow, July 23rd Pillars of the Earth will be an 8-part mini series.

Hope it is good. Show are Starz

Pillars of the Earth was an amazing book

also one of my favorites

I was just thinking about that book the other day- one scene where the little daughter of the hero is hungry and the father says “maybe we’ll eat tomorrow” is just heartbreaking- but thats how people live in those times.

Pillars of the Earth was a great novel. I hope they do it justice.

Ditto your comments, wish it was on something other than Starz. Guess I’ll wait til the DVD hits the bargain bin at Wally World ;-)

Ken Follett is great.

I read Pillars of the Earth when it first came out in 1989 and bought World Without End the day it was released a couple years ago. They are incredible and I am looking forward to the mini-series.

Any word on a DVD release date?

I have read two different previews of this series. One was very favorable, and the other was brutal. I don’t know what to expect. I thought Ian McShane was excellent in Deadwood, so I’ll give it a go.

"I thought Ian McShane was excellent in Deadwood, so I’ll give it a go."

He's an excellent (and hugely under rated) actor. I have the entire "Lovejoy Mysteries series on dvd, and watch them regularly.

At the risk of being flamed into next week, I’m assuming most of you are men here who liked the book...
the men in my life recommended the book because I’m kind of into the War of the Roses, etc, time frame...
couldn’t get past the implausible hook up, right after the guy’s wife died, of the main guy early in the book (?) and the woman in the cave ...definitely written by a man!
JMO...

I read it years ago and wouldn’t have recommended it as a great read, but I see it appears on lists of recommended books from time to time.

I'm not a man but I played one on TV...no seriously, I LOVE this kind of stuff....Historical, Sci-Fi, Factition. But I also love TCM and the old stuff they show. But then again, I'll watch the History channel if I think the subject is one they won't corrupt.

No, just create an account - put in your email address and name and the two episodes will load.
