Huh. Well then, I’m eager to discover from what context “Ill burn the goddamn house up, but blow me first” might have been unfairly ripped.
Second look at Mel Gibson’s sanity?
Forensic audio and video experts examined the recordings for HollywoodLife.com and believe someone tampered with them, editing the audio, removing parts of conversation and piecing together phrases to make the recordings sound real.
“One of the things that you have to know is that nobody at this point can authenticate it’s Mel’s voice — not 100 percent,” Bonnie Fuller, editor of HollywoodLife.com, said on “Good Morning America” today. “There are words that are edited out, there are spaces, there are gaps.”
“I believe these are professionally done. I think she had help,” said forensic audio expert Arlo West. “She clearly was speaking into what we call a large diaphragm microphone. Her voice is very well engineered. She sounds great.”
She really does. Here’s the latest tape from Radar; it occurred to me after listening to the first one a few days ago that her voice sounded unusually crisp, even with the mic being on her side of the phone, but maybe it’s a little too crisp. Two issues for the cops who are combing through the tapes in hopes of using them against him, then. First, if they’ve been edited, then they’re obviously not true and correct copies and can’t be admitted. Second and more problematically, California law requires both parties’ consent before a conversation can be recorded. Is Mad Max so mad that he actually agreed to let Grigorieva tape him?
If you missed it in Headlines, this Time mag piece on therapists’ reaction to audio of the calls is grimly fascinating. Most of them aren’t surprised, but one worries that this degree of rage is “dangerous” and “not typical” and another says, “I’ll bet every penny I’ve ever made that he was abusive in all his previous relationships.” For what it’s worth, according to Mel’s ex, she’d lose that bet. Exit question: Is this pushback about the tapes being doctored really just Mel’s way of planting a tiny enough seed of doubt in the public’s mind to save his career? E.g., “Honey, I don’t want to see the new Mel Gibson movie. Didn’t you hear those tapes?” “But baby — he says the tapes were doctored.”
I sure hope it is a fake. Either that or they discover Mel was on drugs that she gave him...or SOMEthing. I won’t support the guy if the tapes are real, but I REALLY want to believe that’s not Mel.
This scenario will be interesting to see played out.
While I cannot condone anything Gibson said on the tapes, I’m wondering if the statements made by HER as on the tape were the actual statements she made. She’s rather cool and detached while someone is screaming at her on the phone.
Personally, I would have hung up the first moment he raised his voice and let fly with the expletives and told him further communication was to be made by email or through an intermediary. But there are what now - 8 tapes? There’s more here than meets the eye.
oddly enough my wife is somewhat sympathetic to Gibson through all this
I hate to say it, but when I heard these, they sounded really weird...her voice DID sound like it was in a studio and his was too disjointed, even for being stoned...I personally don’t believe they are authentic...not saying our Boy doesn’t have a screw loose, but that doesn’t make him automatically guilty of this.
having heard “Mel” going off and her speaking replies....we couldn’t stop laughing imagining her reading a script while filing her nails.
and how did these conversations go public ?
I did notice that in the leaked recordings I’ve heard, you never hear Mel and Oksana speaking at the same time. Almost always during a telephone conversation, there are points where both parties speak at the same time.
If on the tapes we hear Mel say the phrases:
“Aye, fight and you may die. Run, and you’ll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin’ to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take... OUR FREEDOM! “
We will know for sure the tapes are doctored!
So is this wife. Just sounds fake to me, I think she’s grubbing.
I agree.However,getting involved with a Russian goldigger
was going to end well.
“oddly enough my wife is somewhat sympathetic to Gibson through all this”

I agree with her. I believe this woman is over playing the rhetoric to gain more money. People say things when they’re fired up...its none of our business. Its no one’s business unless there is actual violence, then its the business of the police.
They will never paint a bad picture of Mel Gibson in my eyes. I’m just sick & tired of seeing how a woman will go to any lengths to get money out of a man. Mel said she refused to sign a pre-nup...so what other choice does she have to get more money? Otherwise she could have walked a long time ago...
IMHO.
So is mine. The first words out of her mouth when she heard the tape was "It's a setup" and "Mel needs help."
How did the "conversations" come to be so carefully recorded? Just how were they made public? I'm not apologizing for Gibson if he actually said that stuff in that context but there's something very fishy about all this.
It boils down to just how conniving this little lady might be.
We all know Mel is quick to anger, all she has to do is push the easy buttons. She easily could have been taping him for months.
She refused to marry him. They have/had an agreement mediated through 2 retired superior court judges. She signed it. And reneged.
The story is that the creators of South Park met Mel Gibson at a party some years back and concluded he was crazy. They would go on to do a show with his character in it. This was awhile back. Here is a clip:

Looks like they had him figured out.
Well, there are definitely conflicting reports out there...
I don’t believe that any of these tapes, of a private conversation(s), should have ever been made public, period.
Certainly, release them to a lawyer and law enforcement, but not to the public where they are used to prosecute him in the media.
I am in no way defending what ‘seems’ to be his wild, very likely criminal, reckless, threatening and foolish behavior, but quite frankly, this is none of the public’s or media’s business until it’s been fairly adjudicated in a court of law.
I could be wrong, but I think there used to be a belief in the country that one is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law... and it seems to me that there were also some rules of evidence and other such stuff. But heck, maybe I’m just too old fashion in this world of personal destruction.... at all cost.
Those that commit domestic violence should be dealt with swiftly and harshly, but by the courts, not the damn media.
If this guy ASSAULTED her, regardless of the circumstances, he’s nothing but a lowlife. NO WOMAN or man, should tolerate such behavior, because all too often the victim ends up dead or lives an unhappy life of physical and mental pain and abuse. They become slaves kept in a prison.
Having said all of that, and while I love his artistic abilities, I hope he, as well as his wife see justice, but that becomes difficult, if even possible, when the world has already judged you.
Just saying.....
