Fan Falls From Upper Deck at Rangers Game; Umpire, Players React in Horror – Video (Reaction Only)

Here is video from the Texas Rangers baseball game tonight, where a fan fell out of an upper deck to the lower deck while trying to grab a foul ball. This video does NOT show the fan falling, but shows the reaction of the home plate umpire who looked up as the crowd started to scream and saw the man fall. You then see the reaction of players on the field who fell to the ground and began praying for the fan as a hush fell over the stadium.

Play was suspended for some time as the fan was attended to and taken out of the stadium on a stretcher. Word tonight is that the fan is at a local hospital, where he is “responsive,” able to move his extremities, and has been stabilized.

Hopefully, the fan will have a complete recovery.

In Philly they would have applauded.

I would applaud too, if it had been Jerry Jones.

“Foul balls should be banned.”

Big Sis will take care of that tomorrow.

Back in the day there was an instance were a fan fell from the upper seats while watching a Philly’s game. The fans cheered ... however, when it was discovered that he was OK ... the stadium booed ... what can I say ... history.

Whenever I am at a substantial height and near the ledge, I ALWAYS envision throwing myself off.

Apparently, it's some weird phenomenon that a great % of people experience.

Needless to say I try to avoid the ledges.

Happened once before in '94 when the new ballpark opened.

I attended the second game in that stadium back in 1994 and let me tell you they acted quickly to weld on a 3rd railing bar (at least in the section we sat in). It was not painted, had primer and welding residue on it, and also was positioned perfectly in my line of sight sitting in the front row of the upper deck. I don’t know how the first (falling) fan’s suit worked out. It generally is a matter of tort law that evidence of remedial measures is not admissible to prove negligence. That was one fast remedial measure.

back in the 60’s My Dad fell 33 feet into a cement drydock. Spent 6 months in a Naval hospital most of the time in traction with a pin through his leg. It was a horrible time for our family.

Some of the post on Youtube claim to have been near him at the game. One says he was one of the people he fell on. If these are true or not I don't know, but the eye witness accounts are worth noting.

Hopefully the young nab doesn’t have any permanent injuries, I was touched to read the players’ reaction, falling to their knees in prayer, Professional athletes aren’t all thugs,

A little off topic, but seeing your tag line I have to ask. I drive 114 between Dallas and Lubbock a lot, and there is a sign that says UN out of the US (or at least there was). Was that your sign?

No, I stole that from somewhere on the ‘net I guess.

114 to Lubbock, eh? I’ve been down that road a couple of times. I see your screen name, Texas Tech fan are ya? I lived in Plainview for several years, just north of Lubbock a ways, I still have sand and dirt from the spring wind storms in my blood ;)

Stay safe.

Dang! That guy had some upper body strength! I wondered if he tore up his shoulder, though, since it seemed to twist in a complete circle!

Oh. Yeah, graduated a few years ago. Have you heard the song “Amarillo Highway” by Robert Earl Keen?

The first few lines are:

“Im a high straight in Plainview, a side bet in Idalou, and a fresh deck in New Deal.”

I doubt most people from the 35 corridor know any of those towns.

I love REK. When I get rich I’m buying a ranch right next to his in Bandera.

Stay safe,
