Here is a song I remember from the 70's.
After hearing it this morning on YouTube, I realized that it was an alarm against Global Cooling.
From 1976, the song claims that earth has 40 years or less before it freezes over and the world as we know it comes to an end.
"Say goodbye to flesh and blood!"
From the scientific point of view it is now very likely that there will be again another Ice Age, quite soon, in the world, that we shall have the north part of the world all frozen like it used to be, and we're beginning to have natural disasters, from the scientists' study it seems likely that we should soon begin to have these great changes in the earth's climate so people will not be able to live where they have, and the oceans will rise, and many cities will be flooded, like London, and Calcutta, and so on. These things, they say, will happen, according to scientific theory, in about forty years at the most, but maybe even quicker.
HERE COMES THE FLOOD
When the night shows the signals grow on radios
All the strange things they come and go as early warnings
Stranded starfish have no place to hide
Still waiting for the swollen easter tide
There’s no point in direction
We cannot even choose a side
Crowd
Lord here comes the flood
We’ll say goodbye to flesh and blood
If again the seas are silent in any still alive
It’ll be those who gave their island to survive
Drink up dreamers you’re running dry
I took the old track
The hollow shoulder, across the waters
On the tall cliffs
They were getting older; sons and daughters
The jaded underworld was riding high
Waves of steel hurled metal at the sky
And as the nails sunk in the cloud
The rain was warm and soaked the crowd
When the flood calls
You have no home, you have no walls
In the thunder crash
You’re a thousand minds, within a flash
Don’t be afraid to cry at what you see
The actors gone, there’s only you and me
And if we break before the dawn
They’ll use up what we used to be
Words by Peter Gabriel
Well shock my monkey...
We didn’t listen!
Gabriel is pure genius in my book. He has always been my favorite singer/songwriter, with or without Genesis.
“We didnt listen!”
Of course, had we been duped into spending, say, $500B a year to avert such a disaster, you can rest assured that the absence of global cooling would have been pointed to as proof of this program’s success.
And with that “demonstrated” track record, the same loons would now be arguing for the U.S. to sign the Kyoto Protocol ASAP. The fervor with which lunatics like Al Gore cling to the catastrophic forecasts pumped out by climate modelers is proof positive that they learned nothing from this past experience with the egregiously inaccurate global cooling forecasts.
The reality is, they know that once we’ve embarked on the economically ruinous path dictated by the Kyoto Protocol, no one will ever know whether these climate models were way off the mark since they can always claim that it was our adherence to the Kyoto Protocol that resulted in the benign weather patterns 100 years hence. Hence their insistence that we all blindly concur with them that this is “settled science” rather than poking around too closely at weather these climate models make any sense.
I agree.
Go to YouTube. You will see some recent videos. I was happy to hear that his voice is still as strong as it was on The Lamb.
He needs a new magic 8-ball.

Can’t say I like him too much these days but he has put out some of my favorite tunes such as “Solesbury Hill” and “Red Rain” and the album “So”
Not that I like the lefty Biko propaganda but there’s live version out there of Biko that’s is amazing. That’s the kind of stuff that grabs the young skulls full of mush into agitation against apartheid and made the hideous South Africa of today
For me he peaked 17 years ago
A great song from one of my all-time favorite albums.
One of his great songs that always puts a lump in my throat is “Wallflower”.
It was dedicated to Lech Walesa when he was imprisoned during Martial Law.
6x6 - from wall to wall
Shutters on the windows, no light at all
Damp on the floor you got damp on the bed
They’re trying to get you crazy - get you out of your head
They feed you scraps and they feed you lies
To lower your defences, no compromise
Nothing you can do, they day can be long
You mind is working overtime, you body’s not too strong
Hold on, hold on
They put you in a box so you can’t get heard
Let your spirit stay unbroken, may you not be deterred
Hold on, you have gambled with your own life
And you face the night alone
While the builders of the cages
They sleep with bullets, bars and stone
They do not see your road to freedom
That you build with flesh and bone
They take you out - the light burns your eyes
To the talking room - it’s not surprise
Loaded questions from clean white coats
Their eyes are all as hidden as their Hipppcratic Oath
They tell you - how to behave, hehave as their guest
You want to resist them, you do your best
They take you to your limits, they take you beyond
For all that they are doing there’s no way to respond
Hold on, hold on
They put you in a box so you can’t get heard
Let your spirit stay unbroken, may you not be deterred
Hold on, you have gambled with your own life
And you face the night alone
While the builders of the cages
They sleep with bullets, bars and stone
They do not see your road to freedom
That you build with flesh and bone
Though you may disappear, you’re not forgotten here
And I will say to you, I will do what I can do
You may disappear, you’re not forgotten here
And I will say you you, I will do what I can do
And I will do what I can do
And I will do what I can do
Kind of a choice between a rock and a hard place for South Africans, shame things never wind up on the middle ground.
I think even Nelson Mandela himself must cringe at where the country is headed.
I think most reasonable were appalled at Apartheid, it was an evil system. It's just a shame that the only alternative to it would not improve drastically the lives of those who suffered under it.
I will give Peter Gabriel for writing a good song for Lech Walesa. As far as South Africa the place is much worse than it was 20 years ago. The anti-Apartheid activists wasted their time. Without the gold mines South Africa would be just another Zimbabwe
We are in a sunspot minimum. What kind and how long?
I have reviewed blogs of all types for the last few months. The global warming alarmists still believe the world is getting warmer even if the NOAA chart is showing blue or less red.
Not too many experts are explaining what will happen during the Minimum.
We have Peruvians painting the peaks white.
We have Al who has pushed a global warming agenda for years with rising oceans purchasing ocean front property.
We have liberals who dearly hoped that Copenhagen would be successful. Don’t have to think, just let world government handle it all.
The nations that stood to benefit from the Copenhagen agreement refuse to change their culture and adapt to the needs of their people even with simple things, such as a water well. They would rather send their women to fetch water miles away than get off the duff and dig a well.
The people of the Himilayan mountains are now throwing their melting glaciers at us for we caused it with our excesses; global warming.
Then, why does so many people want to come here? Take care of our homeless?
So what can we expect from a minimum?
More colder longer winters, with summers shadowed by shorter growing seasons and drought.
You would be amazed how many nations are suffering drought.
Plug in drought to a Google news alert.
We also, here in the US have committed more land to Bio-fuels. We even cut down forest to do so. (We complain about Brazil cutting down Rain Forest) The Pope said stop. Couldn’t hear that over the abuse scandals.
So, where do we stand?
We have;:
Breached hydroelectric dams
Stop new construction of coal burning power plants
New atomic plants are on the drawing board.
Old atomic plants must close down before new ones are built
The Gulf of Mexico is polluted which is a major source of food.
We don’t know what the oil spill will do to the air quality in the south.
The present administration is concerned only about votes.
Votes don’t stop rolling blackouts or put food on the table.
The minimum we are in could easily change from a minimum to a mini-ice age.
Our Congress is concerned with global warming.
These are the cards we are playing with.
A recommendation: Look out for number one, Go Voltaire!
Must haves:
Alternate, off the grid, heat
Food storage
Cold weather gear.
