Here is a good review of the iPhone 4. The writer talks about the following six major features:
- Retinal Display Screen
- Speed
- Antenna (good analysis)
- Design
- Camera
- FaceTime video calling

One of the great advantages of my being over 60....
I no longer have to go gaga over the latest techy toy.
I have my four year old Nokia, which I rarely use, and my
full time desktop internet.
I spent my entire life in radio electronics as my profession.
If someone gave me an I Phone, I guess I would use it as a paperweight.

Well, how about one more “major feature?
* reliably making a phone call... it’s supposed to be a phone.
I like Apple products... I own a killer iMac and wouldn’t have any other computer.
I will NOT buy an iPhone until it dumps AT&T and contracts with Verizon, and in my view, it will not be a good phone until it does.
If they were with Verizon, I would buy two of them tomorrow, but instead, I am waiting on the Droid X.

iPhone is hands down the best mobile device out thereFor the $120 a month it takes to own one, it sure better be right up there, especially since you can get a similar data plan from Sprint for $69. True you have to get by with a Blackberry, Palm, or whatever that new G4 thing they have. But is it really worth an extra $50 a month just to have a trendy phone?

Apple has essentially admitted they have been lying about the iPhone 's reception for years. Either they are lying now or they were lying then. Companies that cheat are not worthy of our praise.
With 6 iPhones in the house, I am disappointed in the ethics of Apple. Typed on my iPad.

I drank the Kool Aid and ordered one a few days ago. I was leaning towards Android, but we've had an AT&T family plan for years and AT&T has nothing in Android except for that stupid backflip. So I'll make do with the iPhone 4.

If you want to read a real in-depth review of the iPhone 4, check out Anandtech's review:
Apple's iPhone 4: Thoroughly Reviewed
Anandtech leaves out the moonbeam and praises where praise is due, and critiques where critique is due.
The bottom line on the antenna, from Anandtech:
The main downside to the iPhone 4 is the obvious lapse in Apple's engineering judgment. The fact that Apple didn't have the foresight to coat the stainless steel antenna band with even a fraction of an ounce worth of non-conductive material either tells us that Apple doesn't care or that it simply doesn't test thoroughly enough. The latter is a message we've seen a few times before with OS X issues, the iPhone 4 simply reinforces it. At the bare minimum Apple should give away its bumper case with every iPhone 4 sold. The best scenario is for Apple to coat the antenna and replace all existing phones with a revised model. The ideal situation is very costly for Apple but it is the right thing to do. Plus it's not like Apple doesn't have the resources to take care of its customers.

I love the iPhone. Some will call that being a fanboy, and thats fine. But really, its just my opinion that the iPhone is hands down the best mobile device out there. If there were a better one, I would use it. But theres not. So I use the iPhone. Honestly, who write this crap? Ten year-old girls?

The author states, "The iPhone 4 is the first phone with the antenna on the outside of the phone."
...I don't think that's absolutely true. IIRC Nokia did something similar. Apple's innovation, near as I can tell, is to externalize a segmented antenna design with several functions.
Anyone else have information on that?
