American singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge has separated from her partner of ten years, actress Tammy Lynn Michaels.
The 49-year old rock musician filed a document called a Petition for Dissolution of Domestic Partnership with the Los Angeles County Superior Court which will officially end the partnership.
Etheridge and Michaels, 35, both iconic gay rights activists in the US, had a commitment ceremony back in 2003 and registered as legal domestic partners in the state of California.

Etheridge is asking for joint custody of the couple's twins who were born in 2006, after Tammy was artificially inseminated by an anonymous donor.

Great points. I see no reason to demonize gays as long as they don't want to force their positions on the rest of us. (Of course, a lot of 'em do.)
Gays are always going on about how we have to learn abuot them, but maybe they're slowly starting to learn that this "marriage" thing is fun for driving some straights crazy, but maybe it's not for everybody.
SOmeone's cruisin' fer a bruisin'... :P
We need a FR playpen where we can do our OT thang without interrupting more threads!
There was nothing demonizing in my statement. There is/was a vocal and active segment of the homosexual community that is actually trying to elevate that type of relationship above (as in superior to) a heterosexual one. I can't imagine anyone who gets out in the world not being aware of that. My comment was tongue-in-cheek and referring to those in that segment.
I didn't say there was.
Well after tens years it’s time for new carpeting
The quote you replied to was in reply to my statement..so kinda indirectly you did. Just making my position clearer.
No, I was clearly talking in general, not about any post in particular, which is clear in context if one's not looking for offense. As for the rest of your statement, if you actually read what I posted I said some gays indeed are trying to force their position on the rest of us, so I don't see the point of your post.
I never heard of Tammy Lynn Michaels until now. Someone in need of name recognition?
I've never seen this person in anything, is she a popular star or what?
Gotcha...that's cool.
LOL!
This is bait for a joke fest and multiple entendres, appealing to the prurient interests of guys fascinated by good looking lipstick lesbians.
All we're doing is detouring adolescent fantasies (some of which I have shared from time to time) and causing momentary interruption to the rhythm of autoerotic abuse.
(Interrupting more threads - HAH!)
By the way. Whenever I type the word "rhythm" it never looks right. How about you?
“as long as they don’t want to force their positions on the rest of us.”
Allowing them to “marry” allows them to adopt, allows them to get custody in child custody disputes, allows for persecution of adoption agencies that don’t want to place with gay men and women, forces legitimate businesses like match.com to promote homosexual relationships or be shut down, forces disapproving individuals and businesses like wedding photographers to do business with them or get sued (and lose), allows them into the military in various ways, allows them to promote homosexuality publicly and to minors, allows them to prosecute for thought crimes in various venues, and allows them into the classroom to teach that their sexual perversion is as legitimate as the sex and relationships that God ordained.
All this indeed forces their positions on the rest of us.
He very well could be you know.Sometimes I feel as though I am a lesbian trapped in a mans body.
Hahahaha!
Like I said...
What is it about this subject that gets people crazy if you don't list a catalogue of details? SOme folks seem realy fixated on this stuff.
I said I don't like them forcing their ways on the rest of us. That's what I meant. Sorry if that's too hard for some to grasp without running through the litany, but, actually, I'm not.
Michaels is openly gay and a well-known lesbian figure. She married rock singer Melissa Etheridge on September 20, 2003. In April 2006, the couple announced that Michaels was pregnant with twins via an anonymous sperm donor. Michaels gave birth to daughter Johnnie Rose and son Miller Steven on October 17, 2006. She has two stepchildren, born to Etheridge’s ex-partner during their relationship; daughter Bailey and son Beckett, whose biological sperm was from David Crosby of the Byrds and CSN&Y.

A day after Melissa Etheridge filed legal papers to end their domestic partnership Friday, Tammy Lynn Michaels has taken to her blog twice in one day to say she was not only blindsided by the filing, but has been left basically broke with their kids, borrowing money to pay for gas.
In court papers Etheridge requested joint custody and asked that she not have to pay Michaels any support.
But according to Michaels the pair had agreed not to do anything until the fall:
SMACK!!!!!!!!!!!!
FILE FOR DIVORCE!!!!!!
even though we both promised
agreed
handshook
pinkyswore
no filing until after tour
in the fall
her broken promises
told to me by
headlines
Etheridge has two older children in addition to twins that Michaels gave birth to in 2006. In her first posting on Saturday, Michaels writes that in 2001 she put an indefinite hold on her successful acting career to help care for Etheridge’s older children while she was on tour.
i gave up my managers, agents, contacts, all that good stuff, because i stepped directly into potty training a small boy, and carrying around a small girl on my hip. both excellent souls. and i was a very huge part in raising them for many many years while She with the Guitar focused on her Guitar.
And she goes on:
the other week i had to borrow money from a friend. two weeks ago i had to scrape together $1.25 to pay for gas. i know she doesn’t want to give me money. trust. i’m borrowing cash left and right from people to get through this summer, and feed my kids, with a stomach full of ulcers, thank you. no stress here. :-)
how’s that spiritual tour coming along?
so now.... to open the lap top.... and read the headlines.... when i just spoke to the fame crawler yesterday.... she could have mentioned it..... and hmmm.... wants some custody of kids.... interesting.... but no $ support for me... interesting as well.... so so so interesting, there, melissa. practicing what we preach is always hard for americans, i think. (is that why you and rick warren got along so well? ) oh, the nights of promises.... “tammy, if i ever leave you, it’s because i’m crazy, and you have to come find me and get me and save me!!! we have to be together forever!” (remember that one, lucky?)
Etheridge went on Oprah in April to promote her new album, and claimed at the time the split was “as mutual as those things can be” and “sad.”

no such thing as privacy, i guess? so okay.
2001.
late 2001
we were standing on a porch, outside, under the stars. we were talking about life, and what was coming up in the future, and schedules, and dreams, and building. she had a tour coming up, but the kids had school, and i had some auditions coming... what to do, what to do, what to do....
and that’s when i sort of knew. those kids needed someone at home, someone stable, someone who wasn’t jetting off all the time, and scrambling in and out. i knew that was like, to be a kid, and have people on revolving doors. so i stepped in, truly thinking i was doing the right thing.
“you know what?” i said. “do you want me to take a year off? take care of the kids? i can be here when you’re gone, get them at school, bake for them, do the school stuff, and just catch them when you’re not here. want me to do that?”
her face lit up like i was giving her a present she wanted but could never name. “would you do that??? you would do that???”
“sure! i’ve always wanted to make a home anyway! i’ll make a home for you and me and the kids, and you go and do your thang with your guitar!”
we laughed and hugged, and she said it was perfect, and it was what she had always wanted anyways, but didn’t want to ask anybody to do it for her..... make her a home.... etc. and that night was perfect. sitting on the porch, under the stars, back when we lived on the house on Mandeville canyon, near the ocean.
i gave up my managers, agents, contacts, all that good stuff, because i stepped directly into potty training a small boy, and carrying around a small girl on my hip. both excellent souls. and i was a very huge part in raising them for many many years while She with the Guitar focused on her Guitar.
i was always the house wife after that. the only thing i hated about it was not bringing in money- i have made my own money since i started babysitting at 10, and having a newspaper route at 11. having no steady paycheck killed me for those years with her. and now it’s really killing me. the other week i had to borrow money from a friend. two weeks ago i had to scrape together $1.25 to pay for gas. i know she doesn’t want to give me money. trust. i’m borrowing cash left and right from people to get through this summer, and feed my kids, with a stomach full of ulcers, thank you. no stress here. :-)

the corn out here in indiana is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING this time of year. i don’t know if it’s the humidity that brings it on or what.... but boy is it GOOOD!!!!! this farm girl is headed back to hollywood pretty shortly here, but i’m going to try to hang on to my honesty and my integrity and my gumption. i also am going to hold on to my balls, i think. if someone tries to make my life a cartoon, i’m going to step in.

Didn't see a single word after thst line. Sigh...
In a one-line post, I managed a typo. Here we go again...
Of course. Sinful sexual arrangements end in disaster. As seen.
