My Fur Baby Went Home to God today (VANITY)
Me | 07/2/10 | MarineMom613

Posted on 07/02/2010 2:37:18 PM PDT by MarineMom613

My fur baby died today. She was 10 1/2 years old. Vet thinks it was her liver. She was hemoraging when I got a call to come home from work. She was laying right where she would be on a regular nite to greet me. Only today, she was waiting for me to come home and say goodbye. 15 minutes later she was gone. Ambulance came 5 minutes later. Sandy is now with my Mom & Dad, She is also with her mother whom we put down a month ago. Please pray for her and for me to get through this. She was all I had left after I lost my Mom 2 years ago. She was my baby.... I feel so lost.

For people with smaller families, or no surviving family at all, a pet can be very important: not just “like family,” such a pet really is family.

Our family’s sympathies are with you.

I’m glad you found solace in the quote. I lost my special boy in October of 2007. Such a beautiful, sweet, loving and smart being could not possibly have been born to futility. God is just, and He loves all His Creatures. They, too, have a reward beyond this season of vanity. They did not sin, but they were subjected to the consequences of it because of us, according to the Apostle Paul in Romans.

A body buried in death is merely a seed, to blossom in the glory to come, according to Corinthians, with different kinds of bodies having different kinds of glory, in a physical body and a spiritual body. This is applied to human beings, birds, fish and beasts, to all with the breath of life.

It’s there, in the Bible, just seldom taught. Give it a look. There’s more than just hope for your sweet dog, and there’s hope for us all, available for the asking.

MarineMom6:
Maybe this will help ease your pain..........I lost my 13 yr old Golden Retriever last year . she was my best friend I ever had in my 76 years on this earth
This is beautiful:
Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting heaven and earth
It is called Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

Author unknown…

I am so sorry to hear of your loss of your beloved “Friend in a Fur coat”....

This week my doggie, Lola suddenly had her arthritis act up so bad she could hardly walk for a day. she is 15 this weekend.I took the day off work and cried the whole morning. she is now much better, and is walking around, but it was a hellish couple days.

Please know that grieving is physically as well as mentally exhausting. Don’t second guess yourself, we can’t go living day to day with thinking every moment that someone close to us may die. We do what we can with love and live the best we can...and..that is more than enough.

Try to get lots of rest and may you know the Peace that Passes all Understanding!

Sorry, RnMom, I saw the “Mom” in your screen name and mistook you for the original poster of the thread. Hope you found my reply useful, nonetheless.

I’m so sorry for your loss of you Mom, MM613. I don’t know that we ever are really prepared for our loved ones to pass, even when we know it’s going to happen. I went through that with my beloved daddy. He was, and is, so precious to me. I still miss him after all this time, but the passing of time helps in how you miss them.

The grief and grieving process for our “fur babies” is different in many ways from mourning our loved ones, but nonetheless intense. I have no doubt your grief over losing your own “fur baby” is intensified because of your grief over the loss of your Mom. Special dogs have a way of being able to comfort us, and just connect with us on a unique emotional level that is difficult to explain to anyone who doesn’t love animals. What you are feeling now is evidence that you had such a bond with your dog.

I felt the same way you did when my dog died, MM613. There just has to be a period of grief when we lose the bond we have with a special pet, and another dog wasn’t what I needed during that time either. I agree with you that those special pets deserve to be honored in our hearts for the love and loyalty they’ve shared with us.

I hope you can learn what caused the death of your dog. Did your vet know for certain what caused the death (natural causes or poison, etc.) - have you thought about having a necropsy done to find out?

We may never know the answers to why some things happen - good or bad - but, we can know that the same God who loved us enough to send His Son as a sacrifice for our sins wants only the best for us, and also loves us enough to help us through the bad times, when we trust in Him, just as He will rejoice with us in the good times. May He be with you now, and comfort you as you mourn these great losses in your life. Praying for you, dear.

Can’t sleep.I am very familiar with the Rainbow Bridge. When I got to the hospital today, they already had here laying on a table covered with a towel from home.
On saying goodbye to her, I specifically whispered in her ear, Don’t wait for me at the Rainbow Bridge. Go and find your grandmother (my mom) there and she will watch over you until we can be together again. My mother would get on her hands and knees to spoon feed her when she got sick years ago. I believe my Mom was there at the Rainbow Bridge and met Sandy. They are together with my Dad and Sandy’s Mom.
Certain things you just have to understand and believe. It gives me great comfort believing this. The only person who loved her as much as me was my Mom. When she passed, I believe Sandy understood. She will now be my Angel in the Sky.
Thank you, God Bless You all and SEMPER FI

I lost my beloved cat a few weeks ago, and am so sorry for your loss.

After reading Scriptures, I do believe we’ll be reunited with our pets in heaven. Hopefully that thought will be of comfort to you. But in the meantime, please know others, such as myself, are sharing in your grief and will keep you in our prayers.

Here is one website I visited that addressed animals in heaven; there are many others out there as well: http://www.answers2prayer.org/bible_questions/Answers/animals/pets.html

Prayers up for you. I know exactly how lost you feel. It feels like a big hole has been drilled in your heart and a huge chunk ripped out. I lost my female lynx point siamese mix furbaby of 14 years last December. She died of feline vaccination site sarcoma. I honestly thought I was going to die along with her. She had been my only companion for about ten years and we were quite happy together until she fell ill.

I spent a couple of months rocking around in the empty house and finally decided I just couldn’t handle that any more or I would go crazy(er). So I started checking shelters online. Found one 6 mo. old female lynx point siamese that had been in the shelter for a month. Found another female lynx point that was about to have to go to a shelter (her owner had alzeimers and was going to a nursing home). I adopted both cats. I knew it was crazy to adopt two, but once I saw them I just couldn’t not take them both.

No, they still can’t fill the void left behind by my 14-yr old furbaby, but they do keep me occupied and amused and in good company. They’re both as different as night and day but we have all three bonded these past months, and I wouldn’t part with them now.

It may sound crass, but it’s like when you fall off a horse (the olde saying?). The only thing to do is pick yourself up and get right back on.

Life is for living, not for suffering and not for feeling alone. And there are so many poor babies out there in shelters that need companionship and deserve the ability to run free and play and be with someone that loves them.

Please consider what I’ve said.

So sad over your loss I am crying with you.
We are going through blood tests now for our 10 year old Westie. They thought she had liver cancer from xray last week, but we took her home and she greatly improved. Still, I am afraid of today’s blood test and don’t want to know.
We lost a Westie 10 year’s ago at 13 year’s old and I vowed I could never get another, after one week I couldn’t take the loneliness and bought our current Ally. She is such a sweet thing, this all breaks my heart.
Dear Marine Mom, I will pray for you for some relief from your being feeling so empty, I understand. I will pray that you can somehow think clearly and figure out how to go on.
Perhaps you will go the way I chose, or feel you can’t possibly accept another heartache that will eventually come, I understand.
God Bless you and keep you and your beloved fur baby.

I’m really sorry for your loss - I’ve been there too and I was blessed by God with another companion, Rex. One dog doesn’t replace another, they just give us another opportunity to feel genuine love again.

Hi, I am back to see how you are doing today. Probably still feel lost as you look around the house at all your darling’s stuff. I threw everything away except for the collars and leash. When I received my current westie I put the collar on I had and felt good about that. It was like Tosh’s collar sent all the love to Ally.
I pray tonight you will wake up tomorrow and feel better.
God Bless and Good Night.
