I can’t watch because of my dial-up connection but I saw a program showing the original people in the pilot. They probably would have been OK but the cast is probably what made a pretty stupid show do so well.
Also the basic idea of being stranded or lost on a desert isle has always fascinated people.
Oh yes, Mary Ann.
The pilot show as narrated by creator, Sherwood Schwartz, is delightful.

Carroll O’Conner auditioned to be The Skipper.
Can you get Happy Days after season 1 with the original music sound track?
“Carroll OConner auditioned to be The Skipper.”
It wouldn’t be the same having the Skipper call Gilligan “Meathead” instead of “Little Buddy.”
Then yes.
Continuing that thought, Mickey Rooney was the first choice to play Archie Bunker.
It was a fun, silly, mindless show. But mindless entertainment is good sometimes.
I’m glad they made that show way back when. Nowadays, if there was such a show, they would have gone out of their way to make it racially and ethnically and gender identity diverse. There would have been explicit innuendo about the Professor, Mary Ann, and Ginger all being together. You know that nowadays they would have pushed the envelope to hint at all sorts of things.
And, to go even further, Carroll O’Conner auditioned to play Dr. Smith on “Lost In Space.”
View later.
“And, to go even further, Carroll OConner auditioned to play Dr. Smith on Lost In Space. “
My goodness, Carroll O’Conner could have been the downfall of Western Civilization all by himself.
LOL!
Bump for later.
