Hah ! Actually, I was amused by that episode. But only lightly. It’s not like this is THE topic I wish to fight for.
And let's not forget, they are STORIES. Fictional stories.
The bad boy with the heart of gold is a fictional chick magnet. But the readers project this image onto the real world, where it does not apply.
That is what they used to call, "cruisin'".
Oh, thanks for the concern : But I’ve grown the f up, and I’m doing just fine at being a man. My loving parents, quality upbringing and american heritage sees to that.
But I’m not Emo, nor am I a candy-ass. I grew up on the farm, no time to play video games and ponder a life fantastic in front of the boob-tube. Too much to do.
Thanks for the flames ! :) I did expect it.
Dude, I didn’t call you a candyass or tell you to grow the f’up.....I read your post and as a man of 6 decades, sober, reasonable intelligence and acuity, it made no damn sense to me. Ergo, I axed what the hell are you smoking?
And it goes further back, Dracula was incredibly loyal. Really what isn’t there in a vampire for a woman to want: powerful, absolutely loyal, stylish (whatever the era the vamps manage to have the style or rebel against it with perfect anachronism).
Bump for later (and hope to find pics of Eric Northman!)
So why do Guys like Zombies? It’s a call to action to coordinate and fight against unimaginable odds? (Cue up The Last StarFighter quotes)
I think it’s the older women who like this stuff that are worse. I prefer Diana Gabaldon’s James Fraser or Ian Murray Jr.
This stuff is for silly little girls.
Fair ‘nuf - sounds sensible to me!
Hmm... vampire as the new chivalry?
Loyalty does appeal in an age of moral weakness and divorce.
Vampires are boring and I’ll bet they stink. Zombies are too slow and stupid. I don’t prefer either. I go for Godzilla or any giant insect. Now, they make good B-movie fare.
When the “bad girls” were bad, they were good.
When the “good girls” were good, they were bad.
When the “good girls” were bad, they were good.
At least, that is the way I remember it.
I’m very sorry. I didn’t mean to come across like that. Often, even reading over a post several times isn’t enough for me to really hear what I’m saying.
As for smoking, USA Gold menthol lights. :D
Zombies represent a great “what if” thought experiment. But they, like all post apocalypse scenarios, also represent a simplification of life. Once the zombies hit you no longer have to worry about things like the job and mortgage and insurance and pool maintenance. Life gets reduced to simple manly things like killing bad things and finding food, and you no longer have to worry about how much that bottle of scotch cost either, if you find it you can keep it.
I’m surprised the article mentioned Kelley Armstrong. I prefer the werewolves to the vampires. Both Clay and Jeremy in that series are really hot. Patricia Briggs is a really good UF (Urban Fantasy) author too. Kim Harrison and Carrie Vaughn are pretty good and I absolutely LOVE Patricia Briggs. Steer clear of Laurell K. Hamilton though. Obsidian Butterfly marked the start of her decline. She still writes, just with a total absence of anything resembling a plot.
yes. real men are always involved in some sort of manichean struggle.
Although, I am more into the Bond series rather than zombies.
No, not really. That was sarcasm.
