Ping to the Weekly Gardening Ping List.

I hope all of you will stop by.

This is typically a low volume ping list. Once a week for the thread and every once in a while for other FR threads posted that might be of interest.

If you would like to be added to or removed from the list please let me know by FreepMail or by posting to me.

My computer room overlooks my garden, and my (normally) silent Golden Retriever barked. I looked up to see him chasing a deer out to the road. I trained him not to do that 8 years ago, but he seems to have forgotten. Besides, the deer easily get away, and he’s content to let them go.

Good morning.

We are in the same heat wave (hotter than usual here at 1000’)and a noticeable lack of rain. We also have many cases of early blight in the community garden. Our plot is barely effected, but we are not sure why exactly.

Good news is that to combat it, they are easing the organic restrictions! Now if some folks would trim their plants properly we can beat it.

Harvested zuke, squash, tomatoes, peppers, onions, cilantro and peppers this week. Made a nice salsa and grilled the squash.

Thanks to the assistance from those on the weekly gardening thread my baby giant pumpkin is happy, healthy, and chillin’ in his little hammock I made for him.

At 3 weeks, he is the size of a large grapefruit!

I shouldn’t be cocky and arrogant, as bad things always happen when I get too optimistic.

Woo hoo. In before the 100th post! I put the squash in the ground last weekend. Potatos are coming up well. Days are getting hot. Got to set up timer and drip hoses soon.

Good Morning Red_Devil 232, I just got in from gardening. Did not do too much. Watered, and pulled a few weeds. Looked at Hubby's garden.

We had to give in and water the cucumbers yesterday in his garden. Our air conditioner makes 5 gallon per day which takes care of my small sq. foot garden and potted plants. We only have about 90 gallons left in our trashcan “rain-barrels” for his gardens. Hope it rains soon.

I put up 2 pints of refrigerator pickles this week. We also got 2 pints of green beans. One we ate and the other I processed and put in the freezer. Hubby Picked another quart this morning and about 8 cucumbers.

My Black Zucchini has a bunch of little teeny tiny gnats all over it, and 3 of the leaves have turned yellow. I sprayed them with some homemade garlic, onion, pepper, soap spray, and they took off. I researched the internet, but never did find anything that sounded like the little buggers.

Came in the house, and squirted a water bug I saw in the sink. Thirty seconds later it rolled over and died. I was surprised. Now my sprayer is clogged so I have to come up with something else to use as a sprayer. I strained it twice, so I thought I probably had all the little pieces out. Every one have a great weekend, and God bless.

Hi!

I was trying to upload a bunch of pictures last night when I spilled some “liquid” over my keyboard.

Today I received a bunch of emails from Photobucket. They were concerned because so many of the pictures I sent didn’t load. I wonder why? ;-)

I hope your gardens are doing well!

Anyone have any suggestions regarding rain barrels?
