It Begins… Plans to Evacuate Tampa Bay Are Put Into Place

As Barack Obama continues to golf, hit the ballpark, BBQ and party, the BP oil slick is now threatening Tampa Bay. Authorities have set up plans for evacuation. Veterans Today reported.

As FEMA and other government agencies prepare for what is now being called the worst oil spill disaster in history, plans to evacuate the Tampa Bay area are in place.

The plans would be announed in the event of a controlled burn of surface oil in the Gulf of Mexico, or if wind or other conditions are expected to take toxic fumes through Tampa Bay.

This practice has been used by the US Forestry service, when fire and smoke threaten the health and well being of people.

The elderly and those with respiratory problems would be more susceptible to health risks, in the event of a controlled burn.

Estimates of the rate of BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil spill have varied. Independent scientists now suggest that the true spill rate, before the riser pipe was cut off in June, was between 20,000 and 50,000 barrels a day.

Since the April 20th explosion, which resulted in the sinking of the Deepwater Horizon rig, there have been more than a million gallons of chemicals poured into the Gulf of Mexico in efforts to break up the spill. The chemicals have come under scrutiny because of their own toxic nature.

It is not certain if the massive slick will have to be set on fire near Tampa Bay, but the possibility has not been ruled out.

Controlled burns create toxic fumes.

Huckabee keeps talking about the FEMA head and remarking that he is quite capable. Like you, I noticed that this was the first I had heard of them in the BP story. Then I found this story dating back to May 9 and FEMA is mentioned.

I don’t know if it means anything. I just found it odd.

I hate this thing. Thing = collective cluster**** that is our government and BP. The oil COULD be dealt with by intelligent people. Unfortunately, there are none involved here.

Tampa is not on the trajectory to have OIL on their beaches. But to dismiss the oil that is in other areas in the panhandle is just ridiculous.

Not dismissing the oil in other places, just the hype for ALL of Florida's beaches being imperiled.

And Tampa is in danger of fumes from an oil burn over 200 miles away, so evacuation plans have to be hyped? There are already evac plans in place for hurricanes.

We should rename the Gulf of Mexico for the time being as, “The Obama Dead Sea”.

I bet a lot of people are thinking seriously of moving to Arizona about now, or worse yet my neck of the woods Alaska.

“And what do you propose would be the reason behind creating an enforced evacuation of the gulf states?”

I’d say it would be rather difficult to hold elections with millions of citizens displaced. Created or not, they’ve got to have some ‘crisis’ in order to avoid elections ‘legitimately’ and thus, maintain control.
