VICTORVILLE, Calif. (CBS) ― Click to enlarge1 of 1 Several mothers got into a verbal confrontation during a kindergarten graduation ceremony at Puesta Del Sol Elementary School.
Joyful graduation ceremonies are being held across Southern California, but one -- for kindergartners -- turned into a vicious brawl between parents.
Several mothers got into a verbal confrontation Wednesday during a kindergarten promotion ceremony at Puesta Del Sol Elementary School in Victorville.
The altercation, which took place in a field near the ceremony, turned physical, according to San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Karen Hunt.
Several men then jumped into the fray and the incident turned into a brawl. Hunt says arriving deputies didn't see any physical contact.
There were no arrests and no injuries reported.
"I saw a big group of grown-ups fighting," said Taylor Raymond, a sixth grade student at the school.
The school was placed on lockdown and students were ushered to separate classrooms as police tried to find the parents involved in the fight.
As a result of the brawl, the school's ceremony for sixth graders has been canceled.
"She worked hard this year, you know? And it's her day. And for them to take that away from her is hurtful," Raymond's mother said.
Fearful of more problems, the school's principal, Christa Erolin, sent a letter to parents that said "no parents will be allowed on campus for end of the year activities."

Here in Indiana, they have free school lunch in the summer when school isn’t even in session. Not sure if that is a local thing or not?
Kindergarten is just a fancy word for daycare.
Damn caucasians. They are always trying to keep the brothers down.
bttt
Yep, me too.
Now, everyone is special all the time.
That comment was about a sixth-grade graduation ceremony, which will not be held because of the uproar at the kindergarten graduation.
So, do they celebrate the graduates hard work, dedication & sacrifice getting through Kindergarten?
And as we learned in "The Incredibles", when everyone is special, then nobody is special.
Lemme guess. It’s a messycan school?
No, they do it here in Arkansas too—heck, some of the local schools even serve breakfast during the summer too. I am sure most of these kids are on the free lunch program too, as well as receiving food stamps. It warms my heart to see how well my tax dollars are being used to provide for kids whose parents can’t figure out how to make a PB&J sandwich or open a box of cereal. </s>
I get a little cynical because my husband and I squeeze pennies to send our kids to Catholic school and we get to pay for all the rest of society’s children as well.
Finger-painting isn’t easy, you know.
Coming to your neighborhood school soon.
I had great difficulty with the afternoon nap. I just couldn't keep my head down.
I agree that the graduations are just a way for the school admin to push their bs thoughts. That happened at my grandkids grad for 6th grade. I wanted to puke. Even gave an obeeee award with a letter from him. He should win the war and plug the leak.
According to comments in the Victorville paper, it was two women fighting over a man. Example number 3,457 illustrating why California is no longer a part of the United States and actually is a Third World country inhabited by and run by Third World peasants.
It’s becoming common place. The government schools are the new Obama soup kitchens.
Probably a couple of crazy bizotches arguing over who has the smartest anchor baby
