Here in Indiana, they have free school lunch in the summer when school isn’t even in session. Not sure if that is a local thing or not?

No, they do it here in Arkansas too—heck, some of the local schools even serve breakfast during the summer too. I am sure most of these kids are on the free lunch program too, as well as receiving food stamps. It warms my heart to see how well my tax dollars are being used to provide for kids whose parents can’t figure out how to make a PB&J sandwich or open a box of cereal. </s>

I get a little cynical because my husband and I squeeze pennies to send our kids to Catholic school and we get to pay for all the rest of society’s children as well.
