Right handed Red Sox 3rd baseman Adrian Beltre hit one out of Fenway Park Friday afternoon, striking Nutmeg squarely on the forearm. X-rays revealed a fractured radius. Nutmeg is in good spirits today.
Beltre, with a .335 average and 44 RBI in 2010, was unavailable for comment.

Let’s go Yankees :-)
WOW! Did that headline get my attention!!
I’m so relieved that you are OK, my friend, and that all will end well.
And being that it will, we can now make all the silly comments we wish -— like “forget the broken bone — did the Sox win?” and “What will you do for attention next?” and “bones will heal, but you can bring up this experience forever”!!
But — aside from that, it must have been a shocker to the two of you. I’m sure you had great help, both at the park and at the hospital. Casts are no fun in the summer, but time will pass. Meanwhile try to find out how to get the autograph, will you??
((((((((gentle hugs))))))))
HeeHee! As soon as I saw your post “Who the hell is Nutmeg” I knew you were in for it!
Or whether it's still lying in the street ... cold and alone.
Ouch! Best wishes for a quick recovery.
Not in Boston, at least in my youth, bones may break and blood may flow, but every ball has a home.
OMG NUTMEG!
Well, glad it was just your ARM! Hope you get well soon...:)
Hope you feel better soon!
Did you get some free tickets or at least a free cap? Or at least some wicked awesome pain meds?
...and...
DON’T FORGET TO SAY ‘WICKED’!
(a little Massachusetts inside joke to you, nutmeg!)
The baseball is resting comfortably, with minor contusions and abrasions. No additional stitches required.
I was always amazed at how hard he would hit his shoes when he was getting the dirt off the cleats. Most players just tap a little, Adrian goes THWACK, THWACK! on each of his shoes. It hurts just to watch.
I envy you, though, 'cause he is a joy to watch play 3rd base.
Count on our fellow FReepers to keep us humble. I feel privileged that I do know who you are.
That said I have to tell you that the story going around on the blogs was that once you crossed the Mass. state line you were profiled as a conservative by SEUI thugs who proceeded to work you over. They are also saying that they broke your LEFT arm to send a message...don't mess with the Left. Any truth to this? 8)
Finally, thank goodness Obama care hasn't been instituted yet or you would probably still be waiting in some overcrowded doctors’ office waiting to be seen.
Heal quickly, nutmeg, and consider switching to hockey, which may not be a gentle sport, but it does protect fans with a plastic barrier.
When the swelling goes down and you get your “hard cast”, make sure you get a waterproof cast. Then you can still enjoy your summer at pools and the beach... let alone baths and showers.
You a Sox fan, Nutmeg?
Oh my God! Beltran’s a repeat offender...
I hope you’re not in pain. Take care...
I agree with you! I’ve seen some amazing feats of athleticism, grace, and guts.
Quoting Jimmy Morris in “The Rookie”: “It’s a GREAT game.”
Hoping your not too inconvenienced by the great catch!
I broke my wrist by falling, so not as cool as yours.
Hope all heals well. Physical therapy is awful. Try not to quit too early.
Please add my good wishes to your list.
Hope the pain is little and the healing is fast!
