CABARRUS CO., NC -- Students at Concord High School were mourning the loss of one of their own after a deadly crash Saturday.

The State Highway Patrol said Julia Morris, 18, was behind the wheel of the car. They said she was heading West on Highway 73 when she apparently lost control, swerved and then rolled before slamming into a power pole.

Kelly Campbell, 17, was killed in the accident.

Kelly was my second cousin. Her mom just went through a terrible bout with breast cancer and now this. I am absolutely shocked.

I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. People drive very foolishly on these semi-rural roads. One of our church members was killed in a collision on Lawyers Road, in Union Cty, just last Sunday.
