FreeRepublic: Neither Free, Nor a Republic (Barf)
South Florida Gay News ^ | 5.16.2010 | SFGN Staff

Posted on 05/30/2010 9:40:27 PM PDT by libh8er

A few weeks ago the Palm Beach County Human Rights Council (PBHRC) celebrated a victory: LGBT discrimination will not be tolerated among what is one of the county’s largest employers. Namely the school board.

The article ran on page two in our May 3 issue. The following Monday Joe Jervis of JoeMyGod. com contacted SFGN contributing columnist Tony Adams. The email title read, “Tell Sebastian he made Free Republic.” I was told by Tony, “Being singled out by the Freepers is a great honor!”

I followed the link, but went back to my work. Not having heard of the site before I thought FreeRepublic.com was a liberal website. Later, when closing open websites, I decided to really check the site’s comments on my article.

I was…surprised.

“Nice. The gay lobby’s continuing attempts to force more fag teachers down the throats of our kids (if you’ll pardon the pun). Parents living in Palm Beach might want to consider homeschooling if they haven’t already.”

And this erudite response, “They won’t [be stopped] and if we don’t stop them what has been previously seen as horrors will become common place. What we are seeing is a devolution of culture and human behavior. People have become believers of what is nothing more than propaganda. Sexual liberalism is destroying this country. It is adding the fuel for tyranny in the name of diversity and perceived slights.”

I realized this was not some ultra liberal, group. I also quickly realized the website does not really stand for a free republic. They want a minority, conservative Christians, to control Washington. What’s “free” about that?

My writing, does ostensibly foster our “homosexual lobby,” this is something of which I am proud. The rest of the comments – rants really, that refer back to Sodom and Gomorrah as if it is historical, not what I consider a literary reference point—are pure gold.

“The end result is to teach our kids not to discriminate between good and evil. It is more than that....it is to have sex with our kids!! They want to use them as playthings. They want fresh meat! This is what happened in Sodom and Gomorrah.

They were abusing children too. A preacher told me this once. Is there any other preacher/ bible scholars here that can confirm this?”

They included a link to an article about sexual misconduct between teachers and students, mostly in reference to Palm Beach County and South Florida. Ironically, the article in question, which appears in the Palm Beach Post, only has one case of same-sex sexual misconduct. Also, one of the schools mentioned, and one of the lewdest segments of released email, comes from a teacher at a Christian school in South Florida.

The article came two days before the April 28 case won by PBCHRC, yet the Palm Beach Post article makes no reference to it. This either indicates the newspaper was unaware of the impending School Board meeting or extending LGBT equality protection is not something they feared.

Conservatives however put blinders on when it comes to knowledge not outlined in the Bible. Unsurprisingly, they infer the worst when they are unenlightened. National polls find that most Americans do not think gay and lesbian educators would harm children.

To use their words,

“I’m confused. If we say equality for everyone—Why do we now have to list each group?”

Did they read the article? The Supreme Court ruled in the 1950s that they must be mentioned specifically. Did they notice that in 1996 the Supreme Court once again ruled in favor of specific enumeration? “Technically such language would protect teachers who engage in teacher-student sexual relations. It’s just another way of expressing who they are.”

In no way does it say that. If school employees and teachers are interested in sex with students then obviously they are disbarred from a career in education.

As they should. But there is no political capital to be lost by using outrageous hyperbole to condemn them.

Maceman was replying to re_nortex who wrote: “There are those who would characterize God’s smiting of Sodom and Gomorrah as hostile. As for me, it was righteous justice from the Lord.”

Agreed, Maceman wasn’t implying re_nortex wanted to murder homosexuals simply because re_nortex used a pejorative. However, he did imply that re_nortex was using similar arguments (God’s righteous justice) as the Muslims, and then Maceman implied that re_nortex would stone gays (since he was using a similar argument).

As for tlb’s comments, he didn’t post the link or article title to the thread he mentioned. If I could find it, I would love to read it for myself. A pro-gay poster doesn’t deserve to be treated impolitely, but that doesn’t mean he or she shouldn’t be forcibly refuted. The use of a pejorative against them would definitely be impolite IMHO but doesn’t rise to intent to murder.

In regards to Maceman, I agree there was more involved than pejoratives. However, Maceman’s implications were unjustified. God will definitely not permit unrepentant homosexual offenders to enter heaven. Just because re_nortex believes God’s wrath falls on (unrepentant) homosexuals, it doesn’t mean re_nortex wants to stone homosexuals himself.

Do you think it’s hateful to say God hates sin?

I didn’t think he was implying anything. I thought he was referring to posts that directly call for mayhem. Maybe I was wrong about what he meant.

I just got through reading the thread apparently referred to by tlb, and nowhere in it does anyone imply or state homosexuals should be harmed in any way, to include stoning them.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2509736/posts

The use of pejoratives is impolite but does not reflect hatred or an urge to do violence. Do I think some FReepers are impolite by posting certain cartoons or jokes about homosexuality? Yes, and I wish all sides could engage in civil discussion. Do I think those who post such things hate homosexuals? Perhaps, but probably very, very few do. I don’t know of anyone on this site who has advocated violence against homosexuals.

I see this as pretty much the same thing that’s happened over racial issues. As soon as anyone says anything that is (perceived to be) slightly negative about blacks, even if it’s truthful, they are labeled a racist hater. Making general statements, especially factual ones, about a group is not hatred.

“I had a very Gay Art Teacher in High School. He was a very nice man and the students and faculty respected him for his talent as an educator.

Back then, in the late sixties, there was no Gay Agenda and the students, myself included, had a live and let live attitude about the situation. Surprisingly, even the smart ass kids didn’t give the Teacher any problems.

What has changed is the almost Militaristic attitude that the promoters of all things Gay have foisted upon us.”

Yeah, the world has “moved on,” and not, in my opinion, to a better place.

Here’s my 2 cents at our sister site:

“The battle lines are being drawn because homosexuals are no longer content to live and let live. They see this as a civil right issue on par with black civil rights, and they won’t be satisfied until all opposition is shouted down.”

-

Exactly right.

It’s the same thing as the RINO issue.

Time to take these stands. And not back down. Frankly I don’t care anymore if leftists are “offended”.

I care about telling them to get out of my face.

CNN: “Time to take these stands.”

Yep! We didn’t ask for this fight. We’re only reacting to homosexual activism. Have no doubt they won’t give us near the freedom they themselves enjoy. If they gain the upper hand, heaven forbid, they’ll squash dissent as hate speech. Count on it!

DADT is a major step for them BTW. As soon as the first gay dies on the battlefield, you’ll be hearing how gays fight and die for the country but don’t even have the right to marry the person of their choice. That’s major ammo toward overturning laws against gay marriage.

The military itself will be ordered to recruit and promote open homosexuals (gotta have diversity, don’t you know). Think of recruitment ads in homosexual magazines. Then, straight soldiers will be ordered to attend sensitivity training and keep their mouths shut. Anyone who dares speak ill of homosexuality will be disciplined for creating a hostile work environment.

Yep, all of this and worse is coming if the homosexual advocates win this fight.

Obama's "Safe School Czar" Kevin
"use a condom" Jennings
__________________________________________________________

From the Washington Times...

EDITORIAL: At the president's pleasure
'Safe school czar' encouraged child sex with an older man
September 28, 2009

A teacher was told by a 15-year-old high school sophomore that he was having homosexual sex with an "older man." At the very least, statutory rape occurred. Fox News reported that the teacher violated a state law requiring that he report the abuse. That former teacher, Kevin Jennings, is President Obama's "safe school czar". ..."

According to Mr. Jennings' own description in a new audiotape discovered by Fox News, the 15-year-old boy met the "older man" in a "bus station bathroom" and was taken to the older man's home that night. ..."

On the tape, Mr. Jennings recollected that he told the student to make sure "to use a condom" when he was with the older man. That he actively encouraged the relationship is reinforced by Mr. Jennings' own description in his 1994 book, "One Teacher in 10." In that account, the teacher boasts how he allayed the student's concerns about the relationship to such a degree that the 15-year-old "left my office with a smile on his face that I would see every time I saw him on the campus for the next two years, until he graduated." ...

What about all the straight people who engage in oral sex? How about anal? I mean, technically, neither activity is “normal” for the organs involved. How about sex between people who cannot have children, or are too old to reproduce?
