'Eyeballing' Fad has Teens Pouring Vodka into Eyes
FoxNews ^ | 5/26/10 | Staff

Vodka eyeballing. It’s the latest drinking fad on YouTube, and it could cause blindness.

Hundreds of online videos that originated in the U.K. show teens pouring vodka directly into their eyes, straight from the bottle. The videos are getting hundreds of thousands of hits, MyFoxDC.com reported.

Substance abuse expert Mike Gumbel claims kids aren’t eyeballing to get drunk faster, but do it when the effects of alcohol have already set in and impaired their judgment. Eyeballing is more of a prank than a way to become more intoxicated.

“They’re not doing it to get more drunk, they’re doing it as part of a fad. ‘I dare you to do this,’” Gumbel said.

Robert Stutman, president of the Maryland Optometric Association, said eyeballing can be very damaging to the eyes. Vodka is 40 to 50 percent alcohol and can burn and scar the cornea.

Don't be afraid of the teen years. Plan for them. Teens are morons intentionally generated by the government school system with a healthy assist from the media.

Try applying this book: The Power of Positive Parenting : A Wonderful Way to Raise Children

It is a method that absolutely works if you're willing to follow it. It'll mean a personal change from negative reinforcement to positive which is hard given being raised in a negative world, but you can do it. Check it out.

I like my post. It IS an easy read. Just plain speak and common sense combined with discipline and love and doesn’t cost a thin dime. Why do we need BOOKS to know what and how to teach our children.

Just get her interested in being a career woman and she’ll be just fine. I know the jokes, but concentrating on a career will keep her on track and ensure that she learns self respect and self confidence, not self esteem. Let others rot, but keep her on track and she will do just fine.

Hon, I feel for ya. A few years ago I thought I would die come high school graduation and my darling little angel would be going off to college. Now that it’s here, I can’t wait!!! The only tears I’ll be shedding will be tears of joy as I help the holier than thou attitude pack and show it the door. Don’t get me wrong. Good kid, hard worker and tops in the class, but the attitude is too much. God made teenagers so we’d be forced to send our babies out into the world.

8. 24 hours in a day. 24 beers in a case - coincidence?

True story. The sheriff set two 12 can boxes of beer on the store counter. The clerk told him the 24 case was cheaper than two 12 packs. The sheriff said no thanks because he didn't think he could drink a whole case.....

“My daughter is 9-years-old, I’m already terrified of the teenage years. *yiikes*”

You should be. My boy just graduated High School. I am amazed he is still alive after some of the things he has done :-)

Probably a lot of these videos are of teens pouring water in their eyes. How can you tell from a video?

There were some threads on it here, but I couldn't find them. Our usual tasteful and restrained humor of course....

A teenager with fluorescent purple hair once told me that it was rude to stare at him.

I laughed out loud and said, “You dyed your hair so people would look at you. Now you want them to stop because it makes you feel self-conscious? You’re an idiot.”

(I should’ve said, “Obama Voter”)

I'm disappointed in FR today -- can't believe no one recognized that this drinking problem has been around for a long time!
