ROCHESTER, Minn. -- Guinness World Records has recognized a Minnesota man as the tallest man in the United States.
The Guinness World Record Association measured Rochester's Igor Vovkovinskiy (voh-kov-IN'-ski) at 7 feet, 8.33 inches tall during NBC's "The Dr. Oz Show" on Monday. He edged out Norfolk, Va., sheriff's deputy George Bell by a third of an inch.

Strange I see this name for the 2nd time in a week. There’s a recent FR thread around here (look it up if ya want to) and it has a photo of deputy Bell in uniform.
Quite an impressive sight!. Nobody back-talks an 8 foot tall cop!

Those are awfully thick soles on the bottoms of that guy’s shoes. They look like they could add as much as 3” to his height.

Maybe not, but I’ll bet he’s pretty easy to outrun over a distance. His ankles are probably falling apart.

At that point, 3 inches isn’t going to matter, but I’m sure he needs all the cushioning he can get.

George Bell should still be considered the world’s tallest man because he did not have a pituitary tumor to cause his height. The man is just genetically tall.
