Your border collie likes balls? I have a more-or-less sheltie that’s got no interest in frisbees, balls, bones or stuffed toys. I’ve had her since last fall, and I can’t find a toy to please her. She does like to try to herd the cats, but they’re very resistant and I don’t want that either. Have you got any suggestions?
Actually she has a “favorite” ball which happens to be a racquetball. It’s very bouncy and soft and about the right size for her to hold. Other balls arent that interesting to her.
As soon as we step outside in the backyard, she fetches her favorite ball so we can toss it for her to retrieve.
She really has no other toy — she’s mainly an outside dog that likes to chase lizards and go check on the cows with me.
I dont really know enough on how to teach a dog - other than we got the ball when she was younger and always sorta played with it while she was around so she learned quickly that was an “attention getter.”

Rascal has learned not to come into the kitchen....But she does an excellent job of begging at the entry....
SHe also keeps all deer rabbits etc out of her territory, so we’ve made the garden her’s too.
She and Squire Tom are best friends. She comes and get me when he wants in or out....The only cat that I’ve ever had that is house broken. No need for litter pan.
What does the soil need if radishes and carrots grow (actually, quite vigorously), but they don’t make any radishes and the carrots are barely as big as a ping pong ball?
I think it’s potash but not sure...
One of the best things about border collies is that they are one of the few dogs that continue to learn all though their life....My suggestion is to get the dog whisperer book....can’t remember the name and have given mine to sis.
Rascal knows everything I know to teach her and am considering taking more classes (for me..she’s just begging to learn)
The national grand champion obedience dog live not far from her. She’s a border collie with over 50 toys....She knows the name of each of them.
Each night we have treat time....I get the treat out...She sometimes gets impatient and goes through all the tricks she knows without me and lays down waiting...and waiting...and waiting....One night she left out shake paw....I asked her what happened to it...She looked at me with discuss and stuck her paw out.
BC are excellent herding dogs, she’ll keep the cows where you want them.
FWIW Was never able to grown any of the root veggies till I made raised sand beds....
I’ve been working on “give a paw” since November and mine can’t get it...I said she was more-or-less Sheltie. That’s the ‘less’. She’s sweet as can be (except for the cat thing), but just not the brightest.
Sorry I’m late. Family is down from up north for my wife’s and my second wedding. (The first was unplanned a few months ago due to a horribly stupid immigration agency.)
One of my tomato plants shed half a dozen of its fruit following the massive rainstorm we had on Monday here. They were turning red but weren’t quite ripe yet. I think I have finally found them all now.

For your radishs they do need some space to develop the root 1 to 3 inches. They also need sun light. Hot weather can cause them not to develop also.
Nope..did not do anything, but put it in the chicken coop and the dumb a** snake took it. Apparently they strangle when trying to swallow, don’t tell PETA, lol!
Are you still having eggs disappear?
So here goes:
I live in a downtown setting (no lawn whatsoever no windows to speak of either.) I love fresh tomatoes. Is there anyway to plant tomato plants in movable pots (say like 5 gallon buckets) and move them outside during the day for sun and such and put them in at night for safekeeping from the Drunks and Pill Poppers?
Will they do any good planting them in such a fashion or am I better of just buying some each few days from the Amish in the area?
Also, are these upside down tomato plant systems any good that I see advertised on TV all the time?
Nope Alice..actually the golf balls worked, we are now getting several eggs a day.
A 5 gal. bucket would work just fine as long as you could move around it easly. You might do a search on patio tomatoes they are usually small plants (2ft. high) with 3 to 4 oz. sized fruits.
We have a one year old Old English Sheep Dog, and she loves a particular ball that squeaks. If it gets lost, she will run around the yard and garage looking for it until it is found.
She also loves to catch frisbees. The funniest thing is when she picks up an empty water dish or plastic pan and starts running wround the yard.
I grow ALL of my tomatoes in containers...two of the best for urban settings that will give you huge bountiful plants are Earth Boxes and Smart Pots.
I use both, with great success.
