Weekly Gardening Thread
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
I hope all of you will stop by.
This is typically a low volume ping list. Once a week for the thread and every once in a while for other FR threads posted that might be of interest.
If you would like to be added to or removed from the list please let me know by FreepMail or by posting to me.
One year old! Happy birth Day!
Send us some sun please to dry out things. I see tomato blight coming.....
Wow, this is great! I am a new gardener, about 3 years and I could use plenty of help!
Thanks for the thread!!
Good morning. Hopefully the sun will come out and stay a day or two. Need to get the remainder of garden out.
Great thread, and timely!
I live in upstate New York and I’ve got a ton of projects in the backyard that I’m hoping to get done this year. :)
I’m considering putting all my tomato plants into pots so I can bring them in at night.
You and I are both new gardeners. This is my third year also. If you would like to be added to the ping list just let me know. The thread is posted every Friday morning.
What kind of projects do you have going?
Just cow peas, tomatoes, okra and squash this summer RD. I had good luck with onions during the cold winter though.
Can you please add me to your ping list?
PS Happy Birthday!
The greenhouse continues to produce lettuce, onions, spinach and carrots. Been working on putting in drip irrigation for my raspberries, blackberries, and the other raised beds for the past three days. Finished up burying the pipe yesterday (WHEW!). Waiting on some fittings to arrive today so I can finish up the drip system. It'll be nice to not have to move hoses every time I mow around the raised beds!
My wife is taking a cake decorating class at some store that sells cake decorating supplies...she’s not that advanced yet
One lesson learned so far this year is that I should not plant lettuce in the spring as it will end up being rather bitter when it ripens in the summer heat...I guess I’ll plant it in November or something like that to avoid that issue...
Another thing I found yesterday: One of my friends from Wisconsin has been posting pics on facebook of his hydroponic garden that he built himself from scratch (rather than buying the kit from somewhere)
Picked first tomato this past week cuz it broke off when i was inspecting the plant. It’s now almost ripe to eat...:)
Happy Birthday. And thanks. The thread has been a lot of help to me. For one, I have learned to start tomato plants from seeds. And thanks to all those that took the time to help gardening noobs. Now if my old body would just cooperate.
YOU HAVE
ADDED TO THE WEEKLY GARDENING PING LIST
I should add for clarification for those who don’t know: I live in FL despite what my flag says on my lookup...
Because of limited space in the front only of my house I flower garden. Almost everything is out - I still have some perennials I want to add but it’s all looking great. This year I added 2 double pink knockout roses and a pink lacecap hydrangea.
Spent Mother’s day at the Missouri Botanical Gardens (one of the best in the world!) The iris’ were in bloom and just beautiful. We walked around and wrote down names of various favorites.
Happy planting everyone~
I need a little freeper help. I expect lots of cukes in the next couple months. Anyone have any info for pickling? Preferably with lots of garlic..
Just bought some okra seed yesterday. Round 2 of my "Augusta" sweet corn and the okra will go in today if the t-storms hold off.
What kind of drip system do you have?
I have a simple homemade system (pictures on my home page)that worked great last year. I changed its plumbing this year to make it more efficent and only had to buy an extra 10ft. section of PVC pipe to do it (~$1.50).
