NORFOLK, Va., - The tallest man in the world and the tallest man in the United States came together in Virginia to film a segment for a British TV documentary.
Norfolk sheriff's deputy George Bell, who stands at 7-foot-8, said he and Sultan Kosen, a Turkish man who stands at 8-foot-1, spent time Tuesday at the Norfolk city jail, Bell's place of employment, and Roger Brown's restaurant in Portsmouth, The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported Wednesday.
Bell said it was unusual to stand next to someone whose height exceeds his own.
"I didn't feel small-small," Bell said, "but it was a different feeling."
The deputy said he gave some advice to Kosen during the meeting, which was closed to the media.
"Stand tall and be proud of yourself," Bell told the other man.

George Bell Jr., 50, a Norfolk sheriff's deputy
1. He stands 7-foot-8 with his shoes off.
2. He plays basketball, or at least used to, but not in the NBA.
3. He is not Wilt "the Stilt" Chamberlain.
4. His late father and his mother were not giants, just folks of average height.
5. The weather "up there" is just fine.

Sultan Kosen stands at 2.46metres tall 8.9 feet high and doesn't play basketball

A good friend of mine is 6’9”. Notoriously he is asked if he is a basketball player to which he answers, “No, are you a jockey?”

"...Sultan Kosen, a Turkish man who stands at 8-foot-1..." A full 10" shorter than Robert Wadlow, the tallest documented man on record...

I have a friend that is 7’3”. He played ACC basketball. I guess he’s used to it by now, but it’s amazing how rude people are these days. Without asking, people just whip out their camera phones and start taking pictures of him.

I had the body of a two and a half year old baby
I had the brain of a man
I used to play underneath my mamma’s skirts all day
I parked my car in her garage
She didn’t know I was a midget
She thought it was all innocent play
She didn’t know I was a midget
But when dad came home she put me away
